brucelegs Posted June 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted June 29, 2013 I have this dress from Nordies and am wondering if a strappy black dress sandal might work? http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/tadashi-shoji-sequin-overlay-sheath-dress-plus-size/3378468?origin=PredictiveSearch-personalizedsort&contextualcategoryid=60136226&fashionColor=&resultback=187&cm_sp=personalizedsort-_-searchresults-_-undefined_2_C edited - let's try this link it is celadon lace and really comes just below the knee on me I have these cool shoes that I do not think are going to work too weel, aso I guess it is off to find something in bone/ivory - I hate shopping for shoes since I have a good foundation - ie a size 12 http://vip.zappos.com/annie-classy-black?zfcTest=fcl%3A0
GORDONCHICK Posted June 29, 2013 #2 Share Posted June 29, 2013 I couldn't get the dress to come up, but IMO, rarely will a black strappy sandal not work. Is there black in the dress?
lawblond7 Posted June 29, 2013 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2013 The link does not bring the dress up but I found what I beleive is the dress and it is a gorgeous silver dress. Of course strappy black dress sandal will work 0 you thinking heels or flats. A nice silver heel would work well too Sharon
Anita Latte Posted June 29, 2013 #4 Share Posted June 29, 2013 The link worked for me and I definitely think you need a nude shoe. That dress color is in that mid-range to me? A dark shoe would be way to dark and would attract all the attention to your feet instead of to you and your face. You need a nude shoe that will blend. If you can find a skin tone metallic, that would work too...IMO...anything that will blend with your particular skin tone. Very pretty dress btw... Although I think you could get away with black, I definitely agree with Anita Latte - a more neutral toned or even slightly metallic or sheen would look even better. Love the dress! texanslovetotravel Posted June 29, 2013 #6 Share Posted June 29, 2013 Even a silver shoe like the model has on would look great! Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app
Rare Scrapnana Posted June 29, 2013 #7 Share Posted June 29, 2013 The dress link worked but the shoe one did not. I think the dress would look nice with a bronze color shoe. Bronze jewelry is popular right now so maybe you could get a necklace or bracelet. Maybe a bronze evening bag?
cb at sea Posted June 29, 2013 #8 Share Posted June 29, 2013 A black shoe will be too dark and heavy...even if it's strappy! Yes...a nude shoe color will be MUCH better. A beige or snakeskin or metallic is considered "NEUTRAL"

SadieN Posted June 29, 2013 #10 Share Posted June 29, 2013 What is your skin tone? If you are dark then get a dark shoe. If you are light, like the model, get a light color shoe.
royalcruz Posted June 29, 2013 #11 Share Posted June 29, 2013 What is your skin tone?If you are dark then get a dark shoe. If you are light, like the model, get a light color shoe. I agree that skin tone matters here. But with the cool color of that dress, I would stay in the silver/pewter range if you are going for metallic...gold/bronze is too warm IMO. I like the second shoebuy shoe in ivory too.
klauer Posted June 29, 2013 #12 Share Posted June 29, 2013 Pageant tip is to wear sandals in a shade closest to your skin tone to make your legs look longer (also no strap across the front of your ankle).
maureencruiser Posted June 29, 2013 #13 Share Posted June 29, 2013 Beautiful dress! I agree that black would be too dark.
Bars7816 Posted June 29, 2013 #14 Share Posted June 29, 2013 Love the Annie Lola. It looks less painful than all the others -- and cute too!
luvscruising2007 Posted June 30, 2013 #15 Share Posted June 30, 2013 I like the first 2 shoes. I think they would both go with that wonderful dress and are a little more formal than a couple of the others. You will look stunning.
GORDONCHICK Posted June 30, 2013 #16 Share Posted June 30, 2013 Now I can see the dress, and black shoes of any kind would too dark for this dress. Either nude or silver (maybe pewter if it's not a pinkish pewter).
Yoshikitty Posted June 30, 2013 #17 Share Posted June 30, 2013 Beautiful dress! Black is a no go. I would get this shoes because it looks comfortable and I think you can wear it with all the lighter color dresses. http://www.shoebuy.com/naturalizer-danya/458128/1053396
Ehpride Posted June 30, 2013 #18 Share Posted June 30, 2013 I have a celadon dress and I tend to wear silver with it. I like my black strappy sandals with brighter colors and jewel tones, but i find that black is a little too much contrast with pastels.
