Details on the NEW 2016 ship!

Recommended Posts

The Vista will have an IMAX theater. Maybe something else to pay for.

How do you know they will have a theater? Im sure if you have to pay for it, it will be a minimal charge.

Carnival Corp.is the parent company of Disney Cruise Line so essentially they are not the competition, just a line that caters to families.

Sorry but this is extremely inaccurate.

Disney Cruise Lines parent company is its namesake, Disney Corporation. In the same manner that Carnival Cruise Lines parent company is it namesake, Carnival Corporation.

Though there is no official statement to confirm, and i really dont like qoute unconfirmed sources lol. It appears the vista desgin and features will be revealed in an event in NYC in November. So i dont know how true this is. But a reliable carnival fan has a group on social media than is saying this.

I love Disney but I wouldn't consider it a "premium line". I consider it a family friendly cruise line. Without a doubt the best for young children but no where near a premium line such as Cunard, Celebrity or Princess. Not that this is bad. I consider the "premium" lines too stuffy.

This is incorrect. Carnival Corp. is not the parent company of Disney.

Disney is the parent company of Disney Cruise Line.

Disney is definitely a competitor of Carnival.

Disney is not worth the extra amount of money you have to pay for their cruises. We were on the Disney Dream a couple of weeks ago. I would rather sail on the Carnival Dream.

We have sailed on the Carnival Dream and Breeze. Never felt crowded on either. Always was able to get a deck chair. To me that is one way to measure crowds.

With so many new ships coming out over the next few years from MSC, Royal Caribbean, Princess, and NCL and the press they are getting; when does anyone think Carnival will start promoting or showing us progress on the Vista?

Latest word was sometime near the end of the year. Keep in mind that it takes 3 years to build a ship.

Disney is much more expensive and offer much more than Carnival. If they were priced the same there would be no contest. Disney would win. Disney is a family friendly competitor to HAL, Celebrity and Princess. :)

How is HAL a direct competitor when the crowd on HAL are much older?

For those of you who have not heard yet, there has been some information unofficially released on Carnival's new 2016 ship. Here we go...

1. There will be no large Atrium - only 3 decks stopping at deck 5:

2. Deck 4 will have the Casino from the existing conference room to the Blush Dining Room as exists on Breeze;

3. Ship will be approximately 21 feet longer at bow and 30 feet at aft;

4. It will be the same width as the Dream Class;

5. There will be 3 pools (with a 1/2 in 1/2 out pool where the current Limelight Lounge is on the Breeze);

6. More cabins with a capacity of 5,100 persons (an increase of 400 persons from existing Breeze);

7. Cabins will be in existing empty space above deck 5 of Breeze Atrium;

8. Deck 5 will have a number of "specialty" restaurants (paid) with a variety of themes;

9. There will be a "Crew Serenity" area at bow of ship with same style chairs, hammocks etc. (no spa) like the existing Serenity areas on board Carnival ships;

10. It will be around 5,000 tons heavier than existing Dream Class (130,000) and will most likely be called Carnival Sunrise, Carnival Vista, or Carnival Splash, most likely Sunrise!

All of these are rumors that I have heard. Much of this will probably be true (reliable source) but some of it may not be true.

Your thoughts?

As much as this post has been maligned over the past few months, it ends up being pretty spot on.

Given the deck plans posted here: http://www.carnival.com/~/media/Images/Ships/VS/DeckPlans/Vista-Deck-Plan-PDFpdf

The atrium is only 3 stories high.

The casino was moved to deck 4.

There are 3 pools with one being moved to the aft of deck 5.

The promenade is filled with specialty restaurants.

Based on these deck plans, I can't really comment on the crew areas or the added dimensions. There is an incorrect prediction that the space vacated by the atrium will be filled by cabins; it will be filled by the imax theatre.

Indeed. Unfortunately, the upper passenger capacity on a ship that only grew marginally seems to also be true... And as much as some of the new features appeal to me, that itself will keep me off Vista. I found Breeze too crowded the (prime) week I went. I cannot imagine another several hundred passengers added to that.

I have to agree my excitement for the new ship is now completely gone. I looked at the deck plans and quickly realized that this is just another Conquest class ship on steroids. There is less usable public areas than on the Breeze. This is just the Sunshine design forced into the dream class of ships. Why oh why will carnival not learn. It is time for a completely new ship design Carnival.

Wake up, it's time to go to school. The public space argument is very old. The only thing similar between the Sunshine and Vista is the Havana bar. It the words of a Disney movie....let it go. This is the future of Carnival, if you don't like it, move on.
