Infant Crib on Allure or Oasis?

Recommended Posts

We want to cruise on the Allure or Oasis (two parents, a 3-year old and an infant). Do the ships provide cribs or would we need to bring a pack-and play? Also, would the Promenade rooms (with sofa bed or pullman) be large enough to accommodate our family with a pack-and-play set up? I have also looked at the Family Rooms but would prefer to keep cost down even if it means tight quarters - as long as we all fit!

RCI will provide a pack and play. IMO the Promenade rooms are probably doable, but it may be a bit tight to walk around with the pack and play open. We have no direct experience with this - maybe someone else who has can comment. Also I would check with RCI to confirm the individual Promenade room configuration to best accommodate you,

Also to be sure you are aware, RCI's infant policy is the child must be 6 mos. old as of the first day of sailing, and 12 mos. old on any cruise that has 3 (or more) consecutive days at sea - meaning no port of call over a 3 consecutive day period. (But that wouldn't apply to any eastern / western Caribbean Oasis / Allure itineraries).

When we first sailed in Oasis, our daughter was 14 months old. We were in a balcony stateroom at the time, and had a pack and play provided by the ship. It was pretty cramped when the pack and play was out, and I imagine it would be very cramped with another child in the Pullman. On the other hand the stateroom attendant was great to fold up the pack and play when cleaning the room in the morning, so I would say it's manageable if you are not spending too much time in the room.

And, as an aside, the Royal Babies and Tots on Oasis was great for our 14 month old; she loved it and fell asleep in their cribs while Mummy and Daddy had date night elsewhere (with a ship cell phone). We picked her asleep at 10 and put her in the stateroom pack and play. Highly recommended!

It would be very doable if your 3 year old slept on the couch without folding it out. It would be plenty big enough for a small child then the pack & play should fit well.

You just have to be certain that the room is designated by RCI as accommodating the passenger configuration you intend to be in the room. Regardless of where the 3 year old would actually be sleeping, the room has to be designated by RCI with beds for the passengers you plan for that room in order to be assigned those passengers. This of course would be done at that time of actual booking when you select your stateroom category and identify the passengers in the room.
