I love the Sun the best. She is small and much like the Sky. I love the outdoor area off the observation lounge. I love the wooden decks in the pool area and the larger cabins. I love the great outdoors. These are just a few of my reasons :)

With NCL this one is hard to answere.LOL

I love the jewel (Pearl) class, its the right size, friendly staff, great food great entertainment....(this was my First NCL cruise)

I Looooved the Epic, that is my party ship...tooo much to do, so much fun..it was a non stop party..LOVED IT!

Im due on the Breakaway in September...soo i will no doubt love that one also.

For the more 'freesyle' concept. I would say the Jewel class has that. Epic not so much, as you need to book the reservations for shows. Same as you would if you would plan a 'freestyle land vacation' to NY or Vegas, you need to book in advance in order to get a seat. So it is what it is. Jewel doesnt have the same type of shows so its much easier to go with the flow.

So if im looking for a more 'relaxing' vacation i would say Jewel Class, If i want more action/fun/ party i would go with Epic/Breakaway.

I plan to try Dawn in 2014 (That ship seems great reviews)

My favorites, so far have been the Dawn and the Jewel class ships. Why, because the size is right for me. They never seem to be over crowded, although there are over 2000 people aboard.

We never had to make reservations for the entertainment, just arrive a few minutes before the opening.

We try to cruise in the off season, so there might be fewer kids aboard. Although we cruise to Bermuda from Boston in June or July, the Dawn is a very comfortable ship. The crew & staff are friendly, hard working, and so helpful. Since we live in Massachusetts, it is easier to leave out of Boston. No driving, train or Flights to New York, just to cruise on a mega ship.

Eventually, we might try the Breakaway or the Getaway.

I have cruised Sun, Dawn and Jewel. Not interested in the huge new ships.

For me, Sun wins. Perfect size, great crew, Great Outdoors, forward observation deck and my favorite aft penthouse suite.

I love Il Adagio's ambience for breakfast and lunch.

Hoping for a third cruise on the Sun in the future.

Very difficult to answer. I have been on every ship in the fleet except the POA. Everyone has its strong points. For years it was the Dawn before the remodel. I still enjoy the Dawn and cruise 11&12 on her in the next 6 months. The volume is due to the fact the Dawn was in NYC year round when I was in NJ. Now here in Tampa where I live today. Great staff and crew the most amazing GVs.

As far as a favorite ship considering size, decor, finishes, deck plans, cabins I have to agree the Sun tops the list and the best news coming Tampa next year. I will do my 4th Sun cruise oct 2014. The jewel class ships learned from the Sun adding the great outdoors that was missing on the Dawn and Star. Sun still has a better pool deck then any of the newer ships. Balcony cabins far larger but with the dreaded shower curtains. The OS and aft suites are the best in the fleet. The smaller size and passenger count takes a lot of stress off the crew. They have seemed to be the happiest of any ship.

All that said decide where, how long you want to cruise, and what's important to you then pick a ship.

My favorite used to be the Star. After the company took the Spinnaker and turned it into suites, it is my least favorite. Nowhere now to sit and watch for whales and dolphins over the bow.

My favorite is now the Jewel. Smaller size and friendly. Good food, good entertainment and it still has an area to sit and watch, other than a balcony.

I would say the Dawn was our favorite NCL ship with her sister ship, the Star being right next in line. Both ships have amazingly friendly crews. The ships have a very user friendly layout and are just the right size. In September, we are aboard the beautiful new Breakaway and I am nervous that ship will be way too huge for my liking!

Jewell class - Pearl, Gem, Jewell. Some of the older ships do not have the full spa (I love the spa). The size is good, not too big and not too small. The cabins are well laid out with nice storage and the bathrooms have solid glass doors, not curtains. The restaurants are good, the buffet laid out well. The casinos do not intrude into the other venues which is important to me because I hate the smokiness and I don't use the casino. But from what I have seen of it, they seem to be nice for those who play.

For a true NCL experience, I pick Jewell class:)

Epic is my favorite, and the only ship I've sailed twice. I love the size, the layout, the entertainment, the decor, the staterooms.....basically everything about it.

Epic is followed closely by the Spirit. I loved the decor, and the whole feel of the ship. The only thing I didn't like was that Blue Lagoon had a traffic lane running right through it, which I thought was odd. Then again, it has been a while since I've sailed her, so they may have changed that by now.

For me, it is the Jewel class and, in particular, the Pearl. The size, the buffet layout, the haven, the Owner's Suites and the crew are the most important to me. I'm not as interested in the huge ships like Epic and Breakaway, though I may try them some day.

I would agree the Dawn or Star. They are just the right size and have some great spaces to relax. I was really disappointed with the remodel that moved the Spinnaker lounge, but still wonderful ships. I really enjoy the hot tub all the way forward on the top deck. Great place to relax and watch the ocean. Great crews on both ships - nice cabins and loved the new Moderno restaurant when we sailed the Dawn last December.

Gosh where to start?

I love the jewel, it was our first NCL and it was an adventure after coming off small old UK ships.

The pearl has a place in my heart due to getting married whilst on board - but I like the layout of the shops on the jewel and jade to this one. The Gem was hard work with extremely rude passengers, not the ships fault I know and the Jade had no atmosphere and the officers visibility lacked and you could tell..

The breakaway was a thrill to be on but it didn't get a place in my heart, too many smokey areas, although the entertainment was great.

The spirit, now that is a lovely ship, great fun to be on but struggled for the best place to go in the evening, although it still has a fond feeling when I think about it

I have to say the Epic I think as my favourite, the entertainment was great, the staff excellent then followed by the Spirit

Having read the thread I am so looking forward to out trip on the Sun at christmas, it sounds like it is going to top my list.

The same question or poll, whatever comes up every 6 months or so, but it is still something that we all enjoy answering I think.

My favorite ship is the Sun. Here is why, it isn't glitzy like many ships but is pretty and always well maintained. The crew are the best at sea I think and the cabins are larger than most other ships, not just NCL ships but all lines, with the exception of Carnival and HAL. I have to admit, I am partial because she was the first ship we sailed that offered freestyle. Plus we love Las Rambles for tapas.

While I loved the Jewel, I still vote for Epic. My kids had a million things to do and the entertainment was better than anything at sea at the time (and probably still is). O'Sheehan's was far better than Blue Lagoon, and places like the noodle bar and moderno were not retrofitted in like on other ships. The spaces were larger and better laid out.

We've been on 20+ cruises and on various cruiselines although mostly CCL and NCL. DH NEVER voices much of an opinion. He always enjoys himself but says that after a while, they do all seem to run together.

Finally, he has spoken. He says his favorite is the one with 'the Tapas bar'. It's been a while since we've been on the Sun but evidently he was impressed.

We're booked on the Breakaway, too. Not worried about the ship, just concerned about New York, since we live in a very small town in Washington! Keep hearing how cranky New Yorkers are -- say it ain't so.:D

I've been on the Jewel, the Sun, and the Spirit.

I was disappointed in the Jewel except for the sandwich bar area. Otherwise it was too gaudy and the waterslide seems like an afterthought... it's in just the wrong place.

The Sun was nice, but nothing special. Well... I did like the aft suite.

The Spirit was my first... and there's always a special place for your first. We has suites both times on the spirit and for me, nothing compares to the front suites on the Spirit. It has a very large "living room" with dining area and wet bar. The separate bedroom had a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was huge and the Jacuzzi tub was big enough for two (tee hee). The tub was right next to the window overlooking the ocean.

Our Spirit cabin (both times) was the one on the side so it had two balconies... one out front and one on the side. I couldn't ask for more in a cabin.

The feel of the Spirit was good too. Not too small like the Sun felt and more elegant than the Jewel. Everything on the ship made me feel like it was home... with room service.

The only thing wrong with the Spirit now it that it no longer sails from the U.S. nor in the Caribbean
