Ultimate Value Booklet

Recommended Posts

Sounds like a slam to the consumer, and a double-bonus to the cruiseline. Consumers won't remember the coupons if they don't have them in their hands.

Cruiselines won't have to pay to print the books, AND cruiselines know that most consumers will forget about the coupons, so the cruiseline ends up giving less discounts than they would've otherwise.

OTOH, customers don't value coupons they don't use, so... Eventually, there's not much point in even having them as a thing.

Not happy to hear confusion for the D+ BOGO specialty. We are leaving on the legend soon. 3 D+ and 2 Plat. We have hoped to use 2 D+ e-coupons for four persons and ask the waiter to split put $15 of each seapass. The 5th (Plat) could invoke the 30% offer for first night special.

In the past when we've used the D+ coupon for two of us(D+ers), they would split the cost ($15 Chops) or ($12 Giovannis) on each of our bill. (We each have our own credit cards to one sea pass).

Sounds like this may be a challenge since they won't have a hard copy coupon in hand.

How does Celebrity's differ? Since they are both owned by RCCL seems that they would be the same. My TA keeps trying to get me to try Celebrity because it is "nicer/classier" than RCCL ships. Can't imagine.

While I am a fan of Celebrity and RC, they do differ. Celebrity is preferred by the Adult crowd. While they have facilities for children, they are lacking compared the RC and some of the other family type cruise lines. I find that the food, decor and overall ambiance on celebrity less carnival like then RC.

The Elite lounge (if they still will use it on Celebrity) is really a nice social hour. Last time I was on the Allure, they had a room for the Diamond Guests. On the Solstice class ships, the Martini and Molecular bars are wonderful. RC's entertainment is much better, on the Oasis Class ships (IMO). Celebrity does give nice perks to Elite members that include free internet minutes, 2 loads of laundry pp for a one week cruise, one piece of dry cleaning pp for a one week cruise, a special party depending upon your captains club status and some other perks. Yes, they also have the discounts included. If you are a diamond member on RC, you will have reciprocity on Celebrity and be an Elite member.

Nice to experience both cruise lines.

The other slam is of course that we won't be able to save unused coupons for the next cruise.

I guess it won't be so bad for me, although not sure how certain coupons will work, for example the match play where you put in the actual paper coupon. I guess like the spin and win, you'll have to go to the cashier and get a special token or something. Can anyone comment?

The match play is gone. The free spins require you to give your SeaPass card to the casino cashier where they will run up a $0.00 charge and give you your token(s) to play.

Very true! We just got off Indy and they had paperless coupons. If we didn't mention the coupon right away, it would not be honored. My sister went to guest relations the last day and they backtracked and honored each coupon. We went to guest relations a few minutes later and they gave us nothing...go figure.

Sometimes it's really about who you get at guest relations. We found on some sailings it's a hit or miss!

Oh wow, it's really B.S. if the cruiseline gives you an invisible coupon, and then only lets you redeem it if you remember at an exact certain time that the "coupon" exists.

That's a big "screw you" from the cruiseline to its repeat customers.

And if we had started off using paperless coupons and then switched to paper coupons just imagine how many upset people there would be because they left their coupon in their cabin. It's a new system it'll just take some getting used to.
