Gem 7/20/13- Just Back!

Just returned from the lovely Gem today. I will write a review soon and if there are specific questions, please feel free to ask.

I did learn one tidbit- if you pre purchase OBC and wish to take some of it out as cash (which you can do for a 3% fee in the casino), you must have a credit card associated with the account. Not a big deal but I know there have been refundable OBC questions floating around. You can also use this OBC to tip the butler.

We are on GEM sailing on 8/10/13. Can't wait to hear you reviews. I am traveling with teens who are curious if there were alot of other kids on board? I suspect yes with it being summer vacation. Can you let us know?

shkeh- There seemed to be a mix of ages this time around. There were teens and they seemed to travel in groups so your kids should be happy :)

spidybabe- We really liked Christiana who was a casino server. She has short hair and is from the Philippines. If you see her, tell her Jim and Jackie send a reminder to go get mac and cheese from Candies in Nassau! I can't remember the bartenders name, but he was also from Indonesia or the Philippines and was fabulous. He always made me laugh!

NayRN- I was not in the Haven, but those that we talked to did not have any complaints.

You have not heard? Evil spirits and chopped up bodies everywhere. Its worse than a haunted house.

LOL Horror stores from the Haven. I'm sorry but I had to laugh :)

Lol lol. Thank you for the laugh. I needed it.

As a recent Breakaway Haven survivor, thank you for the much needed laugh.

I can not wait to read your review. I am considering the Gem and I can't wait to read all about it. :)

We are back as well. Will post review as well when I get a chance (have hundreds of emails from work just waiting for me to deal with plus everything else I need to do from last week).

Real quick - we were in the Haven. We went in there approx 2 times a day for about 1 to 1.5 hrs each time. Each and every time we did not encounter any out of control children. It ranged from only the 3 of us to about a total of up to 10 people at any time. My DS10 said one of his favorite things was the Haven pool where he was able do handstands in the pool by himself (no one else in pool except the 2 of us which was 2/3rds of the time were in the Haven).

Was the Blue Lagoon open for lunch on embarkation day?

Did you by any chance park at the pier. We are naming on parking there but wondering about the security. Since anyone who parks there will obviously not be returning to their car for a week, are there locking gates or a guard on duty?

This being Cruise Critic, I can't wait for the inevitable response informing you how wrong about your good opinion is of the Haven. Obviously you are somehow suffering from drug or alcohol confusion. Don't you know that that the Haven is a House of Horrors? :-)

Wow! I honestly can't believe how stuck everyone is on one word! I already admitted it was a poor choice...but the thread disappeared! Really....I think it's time to just let it go!
