Room service on Eclipse

A friend is on the Iceland and Norway cruise which started yesterday and has told me that there is now a charge for room service food. I think this sounds wrong but am curious to know if anyone know whether any items do have a charge?

This statement is still on the Celebrity website:

 

"Complimentary 24-hour in-stateroom dining

Either way, when you're in the mood to relax and dine in the comfort of your stateroom, Celebrity offers complimentary 24-hour in-stateroom dining."

 

There is a charge for most beverages beyond the usual complimentary coffee, tea, lemonade, etc.

 

This is the first report ever that I can recall where someone said there was a charge. Could you ask your friend for more information, please? More details?

The only charge for room service is for non included drinks (alcohol soft drinks etc)

I did think it must have been a misunderstanding on my friend's side. Good to get such a quick response to set my mind at rest!

Some people who have a beverage package are surprised when they order a drink as room service and are given a ticket to sign since these aren't included in the beverage packages

Yes they might be surprised regarding room service drinks when they have a package, however my query was about food, not drink.:)

Just off the Eclipse yesterday. My boys ordered room sercive almost every night and were never charged.

There should have been an insert into the Daily on Day One listing most of them -- with photos. If you kept your Daily, look there. Thanks.

Just back on Saturday from the Eclipse. Definitely no charge for room service. They do however charge you for the mini bar even if you have the drinks package- perhaps that's where the confusion has come in?

Last week (20/7 to 2/8) we had Captain Pannagiotis, Ian Creswell as cruise director, Perry Grant, Kyle Thommasson (who was amazing!!) and Ray Brown Jnr (Jazz band).
