Caribbean Princess - Self service laundry

We will have 12 days British Isles cruise on board of Caribbean Princess this August and one week in London before. And of course it is essentual for such long period to have possibility to wash clothes. In some review I noted there is self-service laundry available on board. Can somebody comment how is it arranged - location, price, drying and ironing service, etc. Important to know if it is necessary to bring own washing powder for laundry.

There is a self service laundry room on each passenger deck. They alternate between the front and the back of the ship. Cost is about $2 per load to wash and to dry. Irons are available with no charge

There is a machine in each laundry room that sells powder. I believe it's $1.00/per small box.

If you can find the Purex 3 in 1 sheets they do a great job and take up little room. If not in your local stores try Amazon.

Every Princess ship has self-serve laundries. They also have ironing boards and irons that are free to use. If you prefer, you can send out your clothes to be pressed. You'll need quarters for the washers and dryers. Don't bother bringing any as they add a lot of weight to your bag. There are change machines in each laundry room (locations are clearly marked on deck plans) or you can get change at your leisure at the Passenger Services Desk.

I've never bought one. I used to carry some Tide with me, now I use the Purex sheets in case I have the need to use a washer.

One thing we have noticed is that each floor has different sized laundry rooms, so, some may have 3 washers and 3 dryers others 4 of each. Timing is everything, so, the closer to the end of the voyage the more crowded. Ironing was almost always available even when the machines were full. Quarters are very easy to get in the Casino the night before you plan to do the laundry, because the change machines seem to run out quickly in the laundry room and Pass. Serv. seems to always have a line of some sort.;)

I bring detergent pods, dryer sheets, and a roll of quarters. There is also a pull out clothesline in the shower if you want to hand wash or hang drippy bathing suits.
