Mariner Appreciation Day on the N. Amsterdam

The HALBlog has some photos and commentary on the Mariner Appreciation Day on the Nieuw Amsterdam.

 

A great idea, but I have seen this only on Grand Voyages, I think.

 

Anyone notice this on other cruises? Is this something new?

This was not a Grand Voyage. We were on the cruise and are in the pics (although not quite that visible). It was a 12-day cruise from Venice to Barcelona. Mariner Appreciation Days are being introduced fleet-wide to all ships and they are having a competition to see which ship's roll-out and ideas will be the best.

ONE per ship for this year and then they will decide which is the best rollout and implement that one on ALL the ships for Mariner Appreciation Days ONCE a year on each ship.

The impression I got was that probably, at the same time fleetwide, the cruise a ship is on will be a Mariner Appreciation Cruise. It would appear from the info here that N. Amsterdam's and Eurodam's were going on at about the same time.

 

That is also pretty much what taxmantoo said.
