Fort Lauderdale Airport/Miami Cruise Ship Port

We are departing on a Carnival cruise out of the port of Miami in November. We will arrive a day early and have plenty of time to get to the hotel and to the port the following day. We just booked a room at the Residence Inn in Aventurra that has either a shuttle from the Fort Lauderdale airport to the hotel upon arrival or a shuttle to the Miami dock on the day of the cruise included in the cost of the room. Does anyone have any comments on which I should choose? I tried calling and asking the hotel and unfortunately got a very rude girl on the phone who was absolutely no help. I was thinking of taking a cab either to the hotel on Saturday or to the dock on Sunday. Any thoughts?
