Serenity, Dec 12 Fwd. Port & Starboard sides….

Usually Patti and I spend a lot of time at Serenity when we cruise on Carnival ships. On this cruise we did not spend a single minute here. The reason? The Splendor is the only ship in the fleet that has a Serenity area that doesn’t even have a hot tub! All they have is one measly shower on each side. Add to the fact that the mini golfers are right above you raining golf balls down on you is all you have to know. I don’t understand that if the aft pool and hot tubs are already adult only, why don’t they just move the comfy loungers and chairs back there, and put up the barriers, just like they did on the Spirit Class ships!! Off of my soapbox now. Here are some pictures….

This was our own personal Serenity area. Shower and drinks are right inside the door….

Absolutely making me laugh out loud! Great review!

Hello! I'm still waiting on the Grand Turk Margaritaville cabana to become available. Grand Turk is adding excursions slowly but surely. We're 111 days out so I'm hoping it pops up soon and is not sold out! I believe we will be in port along with the Glory so with 6,000 people, I now need this cabana! lol

At this time I ran into Ryan and we went to the Cartoon Trivia at the Spectacular Lounge. Though we only missed three questions out of forty, it wasn’t good enough to win.

I was feeling a little bit hungry so I decided to give the Tandoor a try. I had both the fish and the chicken over rice, and it was very good….

Here’s a little info to help you procure your lunch in a timely fashion. If you crave the Mongolian Wok, start lining up ten minutes before it opens at Noon, otherwise you will wait. For little or no lines, the Tandoor , and the Rotisserie are your quickest choices. At all other stations the lines ebb and flow like the tides, so if you see a line under 10 people, jump into it!! You remember the pictures with all those people up on deck? Those people get hungry, so hence the lines!!

The line at the Deli…..

It was now time for the first blackjack tournament of the cruise, so Patti used her BOGO to get us entries. I made the Final Table as the 2nd highest qualifier, but only finished 3rd in the Finals. I received yet another t-shirt that will never fit me!!

2nd Qualifier…..

Afterwards I stayed in the casino and played blackjack for a few hours, and lost about $75. Patti and Ryan went to the Spectacular Lounge for the afternoon bingo session…

Guess what? She won again!! Whooo Hoooo!!! Another $300.00!!

To be continued….

I am enjoying your review very much! Going on the Splendor in 19 days! Question for you: What's Patti's secret to winning Bingo? Does she have a strategy, for instance how many cards does she play at once?

Thanks!

Christina

No strategy at all!! She just buys her $20. worth. She won more times this cruise, then she did on all her other cruises!! Her turn I guess. :)

Margaritaville cabanas went up today and I snagged one!!! Thanks to you and your TR. I would not have known about them otherwise. I'll be re-reading your report before I set sail. 108 days to go! :)

I knew you would get one!! Congrats!!! :D

We were there in Feb and we had a huge long platter of fruits sliced and another one the same size with vegetable. There were 3 of us and couldnt begin to eat it all. There was a couple not far from out cabana and when we got ready to leave we gave them the cabana and more fruit & veggies than they could have eaten plus pop and water. We paid 199.00 and it was very nice but not sure I would do it again even if they hadn't cut back.

Excellent Review!!! Thank you so much! I am so excited for my May sailing!!! Quick question about the pool, do they open the roof/dome over the splendo pool area at all? Or is it always covered?

If the weather is good, the roof will be open.

We also sailed in May of last year. The dome was closed when we left and the lst sea day as it was chilly. The 2nd sea day was gorgeous and they opened the dome about noon time. Well, the WIND...it was whipping around and even tho it was warm temps and sunny, the wind made it feel like winter time! After about an hour, the powers that be closed it again! I don't know who decides to open it or close it, but everyone at the pool let out a cheer when that dome started closing! :p

Hi Jamman54, I simply loved your review. The other day I was looking for it to send to my daughter and I couldn't find it. I wanted to ask you about Cabana #4 I rented one for Half moon Cay, is 4 near the food and bathroom I had a total knee replacement and it is very difficult for me to walk. In your opinion which one would be the closest to the BBQ. Thanks...

Glad you enjoyed the review, and I hope you found it helpful.

On HMC, cabanas 3,4,& 5 are the closest to the BBQ and one of the bathrooms. The one drawback with these cabanas is that they are located at the busiest and noisiest part of the beach. Not an issue for us, but thought you should know. I had a total knee replacement 4 years ago myself, so I can relate. Enjoy your planning!!
