What is your favorite casino comp?

What is your favorite casino compensation beside free cruises, free drinks, and free cash?

For me would be getting photo coupons as I do not see the point of getting fruit deliver to cabin. I am getting free drinks in the casino, and sometimes I skip dinner so I don't need a bottle of wine.

What is yours?

My favorite comp was when I was cruising with a bunch of friends last year. The casino host had mentioned that he was willing to comp my friend and me dinner at one of the specialty restaurants. I explained that we were already scheduled to have dinner with nine others at the restaurant. A couple days later, he said he was able to comp all eleven of us.

When we got to dinner, the waiter started off by asking whether we were interested in any wine. We said no, but then he said that the casino host had included $200 extra for wine and beverages as well! Our tone changed very quickly and we found about five or six bottles of wine to enjoy with dinner.

Of course, that was a one-time experience. As a general comp, considering your exclusions, I'd probably go for a bottle of wine in the cabin. If we have a balcony, it can be nice to enjoy the wine on the balcony before dinner.

75 minute hot stone massage. and another spa treatment that I am not sure of the name.....I think it is Cleopatra. It is a massage, scrub and sea weed wrap....it was great.

Well, since free cruises are too obvious (thanks again NCL!), I'll go with specialty restaurants and extra surprises. On our last cruise, the executive host surprised us with dinner at the Teppanyaki restaurant on my birthday and also comped us a bottle of wine of our choice (which we weren't expecting). She also sent extra munchies and more bottles of wine to our cabin. Perfect for one last glass of wine before bed on the balcony, or a pre-dinner glass. She treated us really, really well - especially considering it was our first cruise on the cruiseline, and we barely even made it (combined) to the second level of their point system.

  • 1 month later...

I've always kinda wondered about the fruit baskets. Fruit is plentiful in the buffet and has been in refrigeration (I assume). We also get chocolate covered strawberries which are good but my DH does not eat them so I eat and few and the rest go to waste.

Last cruise my DH offered our free wine to our cabin steward as we did not want it. He said "he would take it back to the bar"!

I'd much rather have something besides fruit or wine. But not complaining, a gift is a gift.

I average about 1,000 points a day on my Carnival trips and I usually get the Casino Offer, the Premier Casino Offer, and a few months ago I received the comp'ed room offer. I am not sure if the comp'ed room offer was a fluke or how they determine it. My parents average a little less per day than I do, and they got the same offers (except the comp'ed room) with a little less cash as part of the promo.
