Avril Posted September 9, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 9, 2013 that you WILL get cut off with the Cheers program after you order your 15th drink of the day!! :( I got off the Glory a couple of weeks ago and someone I met onboard and hung out with had the program. One night, he reached his 15th drink and even though he wasn't drunk (wasn't even tipsy), the bartender wouldn't serve him another even when he said he'd pay for it just like if he didn't have the program. He could have all the soda he wanted, just no more alcoholic drinks. I just thought I'd let people know so no one gets upset or disappointed on their cruise!! Jimmy Geegitz Posted September 9, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I drank an 18 rack one time at a byob party in about 10 hours. When I was a lot younger. It was an all day thing. I was pretty hammered. So I would say 15 is enough.
Avril Posted September 9, 2013 Author #7 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Have to agree. He is a professional!Drunk Normally I would agree with you however, like I said, this guy wasn't even tipsy, never mind drunk!! I am a drinker and I have no idea how he did it (of course, he was only drinking beer so maybe that was it).

cathyoo Posted September 9, 2013 #11 Share Posted September 9, 2013 I am an old lady (61) and I did not drink at all until I was about 50. I have been on cruises where I have consumed 15 drinks in one day and I was no where near drunk. I'm always awake for at least 18 hours and that is less than one drink an hour. I'm not a professional drinker in fact except when I am on vacation I rarely drink at all and I don't take a lot of vacations. I think sometimes people get judgemental based on their own experience. gardengirl2011 Posted September 9, 2013 #17 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Husband and I had the cheers program on the Breeze in June, and on the Ecstacy in August. Was never drunk, reached my 15 several times. Was not cut off on the Breeze, drank 18 one day. It is 6am to 6am. The Ecstacy was told when I got close to my 15. I'm not a heavy drinker. 15 drinks spread over an 18 hour day is easy to do.

My sister and I late 50's are just like you, we start with Bloody Mary's around 10am and have on average 1 drink an hour.....never feel hardly a buzz. But let me blow everyone's mind. Not only do I frequently come close to my 15 drink limit, but I splurge a little during meals with a few glasses of wine.........and then in the evening while I'm playing in the casino my drinks are free on the Players Club and don't count against Cheers...... So between about 10am and 2am (14 hours) I'll routinely go well over 15 drinks when combining the 2 plans.
BeakerR Posted September 9, 2013 #19 Share Posted September 9, 2013 Here's an interesting link to calculate your blood alcohol level. Crusin Karen Posted September 10, 2013 #22 Share Posted September 10, 2013 It boggles me that someone can drink 15 of anything in a day!! lol I am a "regular drinker." I think it depends person to person. I always thought that someone who drinks regularly wouldn't feel it as much as someone who just drinks on vacation, because their body is not used to the alcohol. But I have had close to 15 drinks in a day and some days I am in "not so great shape" and others I could walk a straight line one foot in front of the other. So there are many factors involved. I remember our lst CCL cruise on the old Destiny was during spring break and they still sold "six packs" of beer and the college kids had funnels and someone would pour an entire 6 pack down the tubes to gulp. YIKES.:eek::eek: Seemed kind of a waste of good beer too!

Any way you slice it, that's a mighty high tolerance to not even be tipsy. For as much as I like to throw 'em back, I've got no problem with this policy. If I feel even a little lightheaded all I have to do is pee and the tiny buzz is gone. I'm glad to hear there are other folks who don't fall down after a few drinks. Go2now Posted September 10, 2013 #25 Share Posted September 10, 2013 wow! That is a very interesting screen name! Do you know any one in Florida by that name? Just curious as I know a large family that cruises often by that name and wanted to know if there were any Ontario relations??!!
