wow! That is a very interesting screen name! Do you know any one in Florida by that name? Just curious as I know a large family that cruises often by that name and wanted to know if there were any Ontario relations??!!

Seems like not many people believe us. If I feel even a little lightheaded all I have to do is pee and the tiny buzz is gone. I'm glad to hear there are other folks who don't fall down after a few drinks.

I'm the same way. Normally if I don't "keep on, keep on" I have lost all fuzzy good feelings! :p A friend of mine has some drinks in the morning, gets a slight buzz, then sleeps it off, wakes up and has a few in the afternoon, gets a slight buzz, then sleeps it off, then gets up and has dinner and a few for another buzz and goes to bed for the night. I don't see the fun in it!!! :o:confused: But everyone has a beat to their own drum! CHEERS! :D

Normally I would agree with you however, like I said, this guy wasn't even tipsy, never mind drunk!! I am a drinker and I have no idea how he did it (of course, he was only drinking beer so maybe that was it).

I guess it depends on the time frame, isn't 1 drink per hour a fair amount. Figure a sea day with lunch and dinner in between and staying up late. Probably most guys could handle that.

You mean me? It is my real name!! :D I was stupid when I joined CC, somehow missed the part where they tell you not to use your real name. Oh well. I actually live in Ontario, Canada about 100 miles from where Avril Levigne (I think that's spelt right) was born and raised. I'm 3 months older than she is though!!!! And thanks, it's a Welsh name (my Mom's side of the family is Welsh).

So the price for a 7 day cruise is about 800 bux. We have never had a tab that big on any of our cruises and that includes a dinner at the steakhouse and souvenirs. I think our highest was high 600's. and that was with a decent amount of cocktails. We did ore order a bottle from Bon Voyage tho.

Thank you for posting the alcohol calculator. If you put in 13 beers and 2 wines in 14 hours for a 200 pound male, you are at .06... Certainly not drunk. Probably got a little buzz but under the law not drunk, so I could certainly see people hitting 15 and still be okay to have another drink or two on a cruise.

I am an old lady (61) and I did not drink at all until I was about 50. I have been on cruises where I have consumed 15 drinks in one day and I was no where near drunk. I'm always awake for at least 18 hours and that is less than one drink an hour.

I'm not a professional drinker in fact except when I am on vacation I rarely drink at all and I don't take a lot of vacations. I think sometimes people get judgemental based on their own experience.

Well said! I am right with you on this. People are WAY too judgmental.

Bunch of lightweights on this thread

15 in a day...no issues...not really a buzz if spaced out...now 15 in a few hours...well....drunk

would be pissed if got cut off...as rules state that you can BUY drinks after 15

Typical CCL in one ship has it own rules

I couldn't do it but I know my DH could do 15 beers in a day with no problem...out in the sun, sweating it out???? Definitely.

I can recall a week we spent in Mexico. He was drinking Corona Light and had a quite a few buckets in a day, out in the sweltering heat.

I find this 'rule' strange in that you can get cut off over a number, but if you're running around the ship, drunk and obnoxious, they turn their head (???)

Whatever...a rule is a rule and if you buy into the program, I guess you gotta follow the rules set.

That's hysterical!! I know someone who does these same exact thing!! And I feel the same way as you and cathyoo!! I don't judge the people who go to bed at 8 p.m. or spend 90% of their cruise sitting on their balcony - so don't judge me for having 15 drinks in a day! If you're up at 8 a.m. and don't go to bed until 3 a.m. it's pretty easy to do!

I was on the Splendor in May.. I signed up for the Cheers program and then ended up opting out on the 3rd day.

A lot of the crew members told me something different and they seemed a bit confused when I asked questions. I had no problem with a 15 drink limit, in fact I only reached it once but what bothered me most was that regardless of meeting my limit or not I was unable to purchase a drink or a shot for a fellow cruiser.

I ordered a drink for myself and asked to order a drink for a friend and I was told I was not able to do that.. another day while laying out on deck I ordered a drink for myself and tried to also buy a bottle of water and the crew member told me I had to wait and could not have a drink and a bottle of water at the same time.

On the 2nd sea day I went to the Purser's Office to see if I can get out of the program, she seemed annoyed I was asking and called the bar manager.. I spoke with the bar manager who was extremely helpful and asked why I wanted to opt out.. Once I explained what happened she was happy to refund me the money for the remaining cruise days and only charged me for embarkation and the first sea day, and gave me the 2nd sea day on the house up until that point.

It was a good idea at first but I'm happy I opted out..!

15 drinks in a day sounds like a lot more than it is. Beer is easy to drink and not get drunk on not that I personally drink beer but My hubby can be at a bar b q and easily drink a 12 pack of beer especially on a hot day while grilling and socializing. He is a big guy and he will be a bit buzzed but not like drunk and acting a fool. So 15 would be easy for him to hit on a cruise when you don't have to worry about anything. Just my opinion though.

Just a quick question though how much does this program cost per person? I mean if you are going to use it for beer it may be cheaper to just buy it then use this program.

I think it's $50 per person, per day but I'm not 100% sure. Also remember that everyone in the cabin who's 21 and older has to buy the program so for you and your hubby, it's $100 per day.

I too have reached the 15 limit (A True Pofessional in some Opinions) and you are definately cut off.... They track your Players club card too and keep tabs on your totals, no going over 15. That being said it is quite easy to hit 15 and here's how..... a coffe drink with kahlua and baileys counts as two drinks...... YES TWO! a tall bloody mary is also counted as two unless you opt for the 6oz juice glass then it only counts as one. Going thru the day with my wife (all 110lbs of her) we both limited out multiple times. A couple of coffee drinks and a bloody mary before noon and we are at 6. Afternoon drink of the day, two more at 8 total. A beer or two we're at ten. Wine at dinner and an after dinner cordial there's twelve. A drink at the show or a couple at the casino and that's it. No one stumbling around, acting obnoxious, or otherwise being a danger to themselves or others, but by 10pm we were cut off. By the way if you want more you can order a bottle to your room and drink yourself to a coma... but you will NOT be served at a venue on the ship.

for the coffee with Kahlua and baileys, can you have the Bartender do 1/2 a shot of each, so that would only be 1 drink? Also for the Bloody Mary, you can have them do a single shot in a tall glass, so you get the "big glass" feeling and it only counts as 1 drink.

You can also order a bottle of wine to have with dinner, I don't think that doesn't count against your total, that way you can still have a couple more drinks later on. (I haven't tried that method, last cruise I didn't get near my totals)

My next 3 day is coming up and I usually spend around $400 in booze on these so this would held reduce that a bit. I have heard that if you keep track and get to 14 drinks, you can just buy them after that and then before you go to bed just get your 15th.

Too bad for me the cheers isn't offered on the Inspiration.

Apparently there may be some inconsistencies in how different bartenders handle this. This comment from another thread "I don't know what the menu price is after noon, but when they are on special in the morning they are included. So are the large Bloody Mary's that are on special in the morning. If you order a Bloody Mary after noon, it's going to be a single in a small glass. " leads you to believe that you are only charged for one Bloody Mary if purchased before noon (while it's on special). I will be participating in the program for the first time on my cruise this December but I think that if they tried to charge me double for a drink that was being sold for <$10 then I'd have to protest. Shouldn't matter how many shots are in the drink. What do they do for a Long Island Tea? It's under $10 and definitely has more than 1 shot of alcohol.

that is brilliant! lol :)

unrelated, i've also wondered if you can order a bucket of beer (or individuals) from room service after you've been 'cut off'... anybody know?

eta, i guess you could also order a bucket of beer at any time, which would not count against the 15 limit, since it is not included, if you expect to hit your limit later.

I think this is the key right here. Also the type of drinks is a factor. Me personally, I like to save my buzz for the club:D so I tend to do my drankin' at night, and I like to get the most bang for my buck, so to speak, so either straight liquor or long island ice tea!
