Got a call from the upgrade fairy: moving up to the suite life!

First cruise with NCL. We had a mini suite booked on the Jewel 6 day Van to LA for Sept 21. Got a call from a nice lady at Norwegian today. She offered an upgrade for the 3 of us (wife, 3 year old son and I) to a 2 br suite, 574 sq ft, for $900. Called my wife and we agreed to go for it. Very rushed decision, still kind dazed but happy. Sounds fantastic for us!

So now I gotta ask did we really get a good deal? Am looking up the extra amenities. Anything else I should know?

the extra $900 will be MONEY WELL SPENT - congrats!!!!:D

On board now. So far, just based on the super easy boarding process and the lunch at Cagney's, I think we definitely made the right choice. :)

Ty again for all the info and good wishes!

WooHoo!! Enjoy the Suite Life! Happy Cruising! :)

You absolutely made the right choice!! ;)

And we are done. An up and down experience, in more ways than one. Am definitely glad I did my research here beforehand. The info provided in this thread and on this site helped a lot.

As mentioned this was our first time in a suite and first time on Norwegian.

Pros:

The cabin itself was awesome. Videos and pictures do not do it justice. Space, decor, amenities, all A+. My family loved it but my personal like was sitting in the tub, having a cold beer at the end of a busy day while alternately watching football and looking out at the waves going by.

Splash Academy and Nick staff. Shout out to Sid who is leaving the boat in NO. Hope you come back. You and everyone else were consistently excellent.

Cagney's at breakfast was sublime. No crowds, perfect eggs Benny, our son loved the pancakes. Cherry and rest of staff were delightful.

Cons:

Main dining room. Chaotic. Jumbled service. Only ate there twice because of that.

Butler and concierge were nice enough but ultimately not much use to us. I had to push myself to think of anything for the butler to do. Likely because our son naps for a good chunk of the afternoon and we put out the do not disturb then, I didn't even see our butler till late on the second day. Concierge was decent but our cruise was not crowded and making res's direct or just walking up was not a problem.

Overall am glad we did this. It will definitely be hard to go back and ty again all.

Congrats on the suite! You will love the perks.

FYI - you were contacted by the upsell desk, which is very different from the upgrade fairy (pretty much non-existant on NCL). The upgrade fairy that people talk about is when you are moved (usually without consultation) to a higher grade cabin. The thing is, just because it's a higher grade doesn't mean it's better.

About 4 days before our cruise in late April, we were called by NCL and asked if we wanted to upgrade from our aft mini suite to a full suite on the aft of the Dawn. NO charge so this was not an upsell. So the upgrade fairy did consult us and the odd part is we had booked through Casinos at Sea yet it was the regular NCL person who called. It was a 12 days repositioning cruise from Tampa to Boston. Of course we said " yes ".

Was this one of their aft penthouse suites? I just booked one and was curious what you thought of it.
