ibcnusoon Posted September 23, 2013 #26 Share Posted September 23, 2013 Doesn't make sense, RCL is losing money in their cash cow casino if they are going to be docked overnight in San Juan. I'm sure the same would be true in Labadee?

Dave85 Posted September 23, 2013 #28 Share Posted September 23, 2013 Doesn't make sense, RCL is losing money in their cash cow casino if they are going to be docked overnight in San Juan. I'm sure the same would be true in Labadee? I was wondering about that too... when we do evening port calls in San Juan (which we've done many times on Carnival) we always take a cab to the beautiful El San Juan hotel to enjoy some drinks and gambling there... money that the ship casino loses out on! Either way, I am thrilled that Samana is off the itinerary. Did not enjoy it one bit and would have stayed on the ship either way. Would prefer a second day in Labadee or an overnight in San Juan any day.
mm1251 Posted September 25, 2013 #29 Share Posted September 25, 2013 Understand the disappointment, but an overnight in San Juan is a blast!! We really love San Juan and am not tired of it after so many years.
dedosr Posted October 2, 2013 #30 Share Posted October 2, 2013 On the March 21, 2015 Sailing, I finally received "official" notification of elimination of Samana. While not upset with that, That only leaves us San Juan, and Labadee. We arrive in San Juan at 4 pm and leave at 11pm. Not much time to do anything there. Then we arrive in Labadee at 4:30pm spend the overnight there and leave at 5pm. Looking forward to the Quantum, but it is the worst itinerary I ever had. No time for anything in San Juan and an overnight at their private island?? I am hoping for another change, What do you think will happen?

The itinerary below is what the website shows for the March 21st sailing. Still lousy, but better to be overnight in San Juan. Day Port *** Arrive Depart Activity Day 1 Cape Liberty, New Jersey 5:00 PM Day 2 Cruising Day 3 Cruising Day 4 San Juan, Puerto Rico 4:00 PM Docked Day 5 San Juan, Puerto Rico 3:00 PM Docked Day 6 Labadee, Haiti 9:00 AM 5:00 PM Docked Day 7 Cruising Day 8 Cruising Day 9 Cape Liberty, New Jersey 8:00 AM *** All itineraries are subject to change without notice. I have checked several times over the last few days and the website had Labadee with overnight for the same sailing. However under My Cruises it still shows Labadee as the overnight stop. BrianAlt Posted October 2, 2013 #33 Share Posted October 2, 2013 It's (unfortunately) a long ways away and it could change again. If you're really unhappy with the itinerary, you can always switch before final payment. I would stick with it and see how it falls out.

If you're really unhappy with the itinerary, you can always switch before final payment. I would stick with it and see how it falls out. Anyone who switches right now may be paying a much higher price than when booking first opened. I was looking at the 3/21/15 sailing and how much the prices have gone up especially with the few Spa JS left. I imagine all Quantum prices have gone up as well. So unless one finds another sailing that they prefer and at a great price, I would wait it out and see if it changes at a later date.

Only drawback to this plan is that as the Quantum is increasing so are the other possible trips:(. Plus prime cabins are getting snapped up.My group wants to go on the ship, but the ship isn't enough to make up for the itinerary:o. If you wait too long you'll wind up paying more for the same thing. We are still working it all out but will probably end up switching to Allure in same time frame. Tall-Cruiser Posted October 4, 2013 #38 Share Posted October 4, 2013 March 21 sailing shows overnight in Labadee, not San Juan Yes it does under "My Cruises" and depending on how you search for a new cruise on the RCI home page. If you search for a new cruise and for the March sailings. SnappyNappi Posted October 4, 2013 #39 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Lots of information about the March 21st Quantum itinerary change on this thread and I am not sure that I would be thrilled with 2 stops with an overnight at one of them on an 8-night cruise either. The February 20, 2015 9-night Quantum itinerary shows that they took out Samana, DR but did not replace it with another stop or an overnight at any of the previously planned locations... 3 at sea days before getting to St. Thomas, then next day stop in San Juan, PR and then Labadee, Haiti, followed by 2 cruising days to get back to Cape Liberty... so 3 stops instead of the originally planned 4. I have been to all 3 of these and we do like them, so I have no serious complaint about our cruise date/itinerary even without the Samana, DR stop. We got a very good deal when we booked as soon as Quantum bookings opened on a great suite for our cruise and we have no intention of missing out on this cruise in 2015. I hope that RCCL addresses pulling Samana off all of the itineraries and synch up all of the itineraries that originally had this stop included so that people who have booked can feel more comfortable or change if they feel it is warranted. Sure, I would like a 4th island stop on the 9-night itinerary in February, but am not that disappointed. There is a long time between now and the sail date. Anything can change or I'm sure we will be just fine if it doesn't.

SnappyNappi Posted October 4, 2013 #41 Share Posted October 4, 2013 So was your original itinerary to stop at Samana on Feb 23rd which is now the third sea day? Strange as it sounds, no... the original itinerary had 2 at-sea days and then the stops starting on the 23rd in San Juan, 24th in St. Thomas, 25th in Samana, DR and 26 in Labadee. The itinerary as it is today, looks like they shifted the stops around as well as eliminated the Samana stop. Now 24th in St. Thomas (same date), 25th in San Juan (moved from the 23rd) and Labadee on the 26th (same date). Maybe they will find somewhere for us to stop 'on the way' LOL! :)
SnappyNappi Posted October 4, 2013 #42 Share Posted October 4, 2013 Oh... and also, the timing changed for arrival and departure from each island when they updated the itinerary. (I tried my best to get it to line up so that it makes sense). Original Itinerary.......................................New Itinerary 20Feb - Depart/Cape Liberty 21Feb - Cruising.......................................Cruising 22Feb - Cruising.......................................Cruising 23Feb - San Juan/4 PM - 11 PM..................Cruising 24Feb - St. Thomas/8 AM - 5 PM ...............St. Thomas/8 AM - 7 PM 25Feb - Samana/9 AM - 6 PM.....................San Juan/7 AM - 3 PM 26Feb - Labadee/8 AM - 4 PM.....................Labadee/9 AM - 5 PM 27Feb - Cruising.......................................Cruising 28Feb - Cruising.......................................Cruising 01Mar - Arrival/Cape Liberty I think that the new times for each island may be better than the original itinerary. The 4 PM to 11 PM stop in San Juan on the original itinerary didn't give us much time to see or do anything during daylight hours, so the earlier stop may work out better at least there. Original Samana on March 25th 10:00AM to 6:00PM New Arrive Labadee March 25th at 4:30PM I have never understood why in some cases ships are only in San Juan either part of the early morning to around mid day or late afternoon to 10 or 11PM. I have often wondered this myself, but this itinerary now has 7:00 to 3:00, which is about 8 hours - an odd 8 hours, much prefer 9:00 to 5:00 instead, but it is still a good amount of time for an early riser to see or do something while in port. Zigggypup Posted October 11, 2013 #45 Share Posted October 11, 2013 Have to agree. The March 21st sailing is looking pretty bad. Only 7 hours in San Juan according to the itinerary in "My Cruises". And what's the story with getting to Labadee at 4:30 PM? Is the Island rigged for nightime use? I wish they would come out with the summer of 2015 schedule already so I can get rid of this reservation. I know it will be more money, but this present itinerary is just plain boring. Anyone need a Grand Suite? Adam Ziggypup@aol.com
crookedhalo Posted October 12, 2013 #46 Share Posted October 12, 2013 My group has decided to stay put and hope they add another port to the itinerary - at least we're lucky enough to be overnighting San Juan instead of Labadee:). Way we look at it, if they don't add/change anything we'll be there to enjoy the ship on one of it's first trips. Hopefully it'll be worth it;)

Evangaline Posted October 26, 2013 #49 Share Posted October 26, 2013 I am sort of disappointed in the loss of Samana on Quantum. I was looking forward to it because it is at least different. I actually do not want to book another cruise with Labadee on the itinerary. One time is enough. I think there are few ports those big ships can get to so they keep going to the same ones. Maybe it is time for smaller ships. Wondered though,, why everyone is dumping Samana. Norwegan is doing the same. Does anyone know?
