Mini Suites

A friend of ours recently sailed on the Golden. She insists that the Mini Suites are smaller than the Mini suites on the Sapphire and the Diamond. She says while the Mini Suites on the Sapphire & Diamond the sofa has 3 cushions (wide) making the sitting room seem more spacious -- the Golden sofa has only 2 cushions and the sitting room is/seems smaller? Does anyone know if this is true or if she is 'nuts' (haha).

We have sailed in mini-suites on the Grand, Golden and Sapphire but I only have cabin photos of the Sapphire. Can't say whether there are two or three cushions on the Golden. I believe that the Caribe deck balcony occupies the space above the sitting room of the mini-suite. I checked the size of a Sapphire mini-suite sitting room and a Sapphire Caribe deck balcony and I believe they were the same size at approximately 9'x9'. That is the same as other Grand class ships. I believe there is a difference in the size of the mini-suite balconies on the Diamond and Sapphire. On other Grand class ships they are 9'x7' but on those two ships they are closer to 9'x8.5'. Those two were built by Mitsubishi and are 5 feet wider on the Promenade deck and below.

We are booked on the Diamond Princess next year in E731 and I have just found a couple of photos that show that the couch in the suite is a 3 seater.http://www.flickr.com/photos/25882507@N08/3211278732/in/photostream/ Also there is this video take on the Diamond http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FdONnP5HS8s

We were on the Emerald Princess in E731 last year in October and I have just checked out my photos and again we had a 3 seater couch.

I have just found this photo of a mini suite on the Golden and that has a 3 seater couch so I am not sure whether your friend was in a true mini.

Have just checked out the pictures on cruisedeckplans.com, and she is right. the couches on Golden only have two cushions, those on Diamond three. However, what makes the difference is that on Diamond, the divider extends out with the lamp on it, while on Golden there is a stand next to the couch with a lamp on it. That shrinks the length of the couch. EM
