Cotswold Eagle Posted September 29, 2013 #1 Share Posted September 29, 2013 Anyone planning on one of the London Duck amphibious vehicle tours through the streets of London and along the Thames may wish to check their arrangements over the next few days, as one of their DUKWs is on fire in the Thames this morning. All passengers have been rescued by other vessels and the emergency services, apparently. This comes on top of difficulties for the operators of similar tours (but using different vehicles) in Liverpool, so I would expect increased regulatory scrutiny. Cotswold Eagle Posted September 30, 2013 Author #3 Share Posted September 30, 2013 Pretty dramatic pictures on this report. Good to see other boats were there quite quickly, including other tour operators such as the the Rib Experience. http://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/high-drama-on-the-thames-as-30-passengers-are-rescued-from-burning-tourist-boat-8847428.html

Cotswold Eagle Posted September 30, 2013 Author #5 Share Posted September 30, 2013 The company has indeed suspended the river portion of their tours, pending the outcome of the investigations in to this incident.
RJHNorthyorks Posted September 30, 2013 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2013 Not surprised they have suspended activity. The Liverpool version sank in the Albert Dock in July 2013.
