The Upgrade Fairy is alive and well!

Congrats, Maritimer.

Not sure how many cruises you've been on, but be careful. Once you've been on a balcony it's tough to go back (or maybe it's just me with no self control).

Enjoy your trip, and the balcony!

How exciting! Balconies are the BEST!!

Congrats. For you lucky ones-did your upgrade come close to booking, or after final payment? Just curious if there is still a chance-we're sailing in dec. did you use a ta, or book directly thru princess?

Hi all

We have booked Ruby Princess next November a balcony mini suite and have been told that we will get an upgrade to either a higher value mini suite or a suite. When do you find out where you have been upgraded to? Any help please.

Cheers;)

Our upgrade came about a week after final payment was made. We always use the same TA. Our friends, on same cruise, were upgraded (within category - forward balcony to midship balcony) a couple of months before final payment was made.

This particular cruise is going to be the longest cruise we have ever taken (5 weeks) and the upgrade from Oceanview to Balcony is very much appreciated! Thank you Princess! :)

How can anyone tell you that you WILL be upgraded? Upgrades are granted by yield management and depend on many factors. Now, if you have paid full price for your cabin and the price drops, you might be offered an upgrade rather than the cost reduction, but that just means that you are paying for it. Please let us know how you make out.:)

This one confuses me. Who told you that you will get an upgrade? I can see someone telling you that IF you get an upgrade you would get the upgrade you mentioned but that is a very big IF...

Our upgrade came when we were checking in at the pier. We had originally booked a balcony -- then prices dropped so we went with a mini-suite. At the pier we got upgraded to a full suite at the back of the ship. What a shock. Huge stateroom as well as a huge balcony. We were in total heaven. This was a 16-day cruise and sooooo much appreciated.

You are correct. Once in a balcony it's no going back. We have always had a balcony but our November 4 day cruise was booked with an ocean-view cabin. However, by the time we made the last payment we upgraded to a balcony. Can't sail any other way.....
