Hi from Boston

This was going to be my shopping day. I had decided to go to the Prudential mall. It was very nice. I should have stayed there but I wanted to go to macys. It wasn't the best idea. It's a little crazy in that area and I found the store to be very run down. I remember going to the one in San Francisco a few years ago. That store is amazing. I ended up buying 2 shirts at Prudential. I think I spent more in cab fare.

Something odd happened at the mall. I was standing at the directory looking at the stores. The directory is in the middle of the mall away from where people would be walking. One lady ploughed into me just about knocking me to the ground. It seemed intentional and I wondered if she was trying to steal my wallet or something. It's was very strange.

Getting a cab from the area proved difficult. Finally I was able to flag one down. I find people in Boston to be very similar to Calgarians. The cab driver was funny. He wanted to know if I smoke weed. He said you can buy it easily now and wondered if was as easy in Canada.

I was going to eat in town but I was worried I'd never get back to the pier so I crashed the Tamarind. I'm having trouble with my pre pays. I booked one for the 15th and one for the 21st. The one reservation morphed into 2 on the 15th. Four of us ate there that night so it added to the confusion. I got charged for my meal last night. I thought it was fixed but it hasn't been.

I had a pretty large obc when I got on the ship and my 7 bottles of wine and 500 minutes of Internet hasn't killed it yet. I'm going to lose it if I don't use it so I'm going to the spa for a pedicure on Thursday. I've had bad experiences and I really didn't want to ever return so let's see if they can redeem themselves. The guy at the front desk suggested that I should drink more. Is that possible ;)? I plan to do that tonight.

I think it would have been better to spend the day sight seeing rather than shopping. Live and learn.

There was supposed to be free wifi at the pier but no one could get it to work. That is a pet peeve of mine. Why say it works if it doesn't. The same thing in Sydney
Sounds like a strange day indeed! Can you use your OBC to purchase someting in one of the onboard stores? I like to buy comestics!

Are they no longer selling Clinique?

They were on the Westerdam in March. IIRC there were several higher end brands available. The staff was very helpful in the little store.

Actually , I purchased several things on the Eurodam . Clinique , Lancome and a nice L'Occitane travel kit.

These brands are hard to get in Brazil, so I always pick up some goodies!

The problem is getting it home. That's what sucks about one suitcase.

Btw, I've only had bacon once on the ship. Some lady was complaining that the give her too much, 5 or 6 slices. I could see it being too much if it was 50 or 60 slices :D;):p.

they were even on the Prinsendam in June this year - considering it's the smallest store in the fleet (and I do mean smallest:D) I would think they should still be available on the others unless there has been a dramatic change.

Just a couple of toiletries - come on - you can't slide that in:p:D Did I understand you correctly that you will lose your obc if you don't use it? I thought most was refunded - curious if you don't mind sharing what type this is as this sounds a bit different.

Only bacon once:eek: If it's something you enjoy you had better make up for lost time:D

My goodness , only once? You'll need to take another cruise to make up for your poor bacon consumption on the your last two cruises. Step it up ! :) Lol!

Seriously , I practically only eat bacon on cruises since it isn't really common as a breakfast dish in Brazil. So I eat it every songle day while cruising!

By some mascara , lipstick ... Take them out of the packages and stick them in your shoe!

It is so hot here , wish I were cruising New England.....

Someone reported a couple of months ago that they had some left over shipboard credit and didn't get it back at the end of the cruise.

I have no idea if that is true.

Some of it was the shareholders credit. The rest came from Hal for price reduction, welcome home obc and FCC.

The internet has been very slow for the last day.

Had a late night last night so my butt is dragging. Going to try and work out this morning and go ashore this afternoon.

Ahh - got it.

If you can't spend it all, just hit the casino and the slots - draw on your key card, take a couple of spins on the slots and then cash out:D

Sea day today. They are not my favorite. They have some of the mariners brunches going today. Mine is tomorrow but I'm not going. Formal night tonight.

When I was on the Oosterdam in August there was no dessert extravaganza. There will be tonight. I don't know if it's just for longer cruises now. I don't go so I won't be able to report anything about it.

Did 3 miles around the deck today as I've been feeling a bit rough the last couple of days. I have been exercising on the cruise but I thinking the sinning in winning. To much sugar and booze. I eat pretty darn health at home so I really feel it when I don't.

Couldn't stand the thought of eating in the lido for lunch for I decided to order rom service. Got the club sandwich that everyone raves about. It was pretty good. It's certainly the full meal deal.

Went to the spa for my fire and ice pedicure. She did a good job but her people skills were less than zero. They add 15 percent gratuity and leave a space for more. Not going to happen. Standard at home is around 10 percent. I don't think she was happy with mr.

Now I'm back in the land of cheap internet I'll continue.

Thursday dinner was brutal. The service was beyond slow in the MDR. Took 2.5 hours to get dinner done. The food was not good. I had some chicken dish that was salty and nothing else. Had to beg 4 people before I got my wine.

I decided I didn't want to deal with the MDR anymore so I went to Canaletto on Friday. They still have the "old" menu there so I had the cod putenesca (sp). It was so good on the NA last year. This was not great.

Yesterday I just went to the gym. Packed and sat my lazy butt in a chair. Finished the day with my last meal at the tamarind.

I'm at the hotel in Fort Lauderdale now. I was able to checks in early. Will go shopping this afternoon. We are having a brutal winter storm in Calgary so I'm happy not to be flying into that.
Thanks for reading my thread. If you have any questions let me know. Hopefully I can answer them.

Welcome back to dry land, Lorene. Sorry that the dining room was such a dismal experience; it should always be a highlight of the day.

Safe journeys home Lorene.

Such a shame about the MDR. That really is not good.

Glad you are avoiding the storm - here's hoping the snow melts quickly.

Enjoy the sunshine and thanks for taking us along:)

Looks like you had a good cruise. I'd stay in FL for few more days if I were you. Northwest weather is not as nice as Florida weather right now. We have fog and dreary low clouds with some rain later today. Good to see you are getting some exercise for the knee. Hope its feeling better?
