Kusadasi Turkey

Can you walk from the ship to any interesting place, shops etc. in Kusadasi . Took the tours the last time, one to explore the town this time.

Kusadasi is in Turkey, not in Greece.

But to your question: Yes, you sure can walk. The ship is just a few steps away from the city center. Lots of shops and restaurants there. Go to thte city, don't stay at the harbor shops, as they are much more expensive. The items cost the same number but with different currency, for example something in the city will be 5 liras (=2 euros) and in the harbor it will be 5 euros. You do not have to exchange into Liras, you can easily utilize both USD and euros in the shops. The shopkeepers usually ask, which currency you want to use.

We were just at Kusadasi on Thu oct 17 but have been staying there for holiday a couple of weeks together. Very nice city.

Just outside of the port is the bazaar with tons of shopping. As far as sites are concerned, perhaps someone else can chime in. We went on an all day tour to Ephesus, St John's Basilica and Mary's House. The tour guide dropped us off at the bazaar at the end of the day, we shopped and then boarded the ship.

Can anyone recommend a good restaurant within walking distance of the ship, or a good area with an assortment of choices? We have been to Ephesus before and may decide to just explore the port on our own for our May visit.

There are many restaurants in walking distance. You can just walk around and see what suits you.

Here's one I like -- very near the port, with good views outside and good food (especially fresh fish). Great calimari too. Or grab a cold Efes beer and a few delicious mezzes (like tapas).
