PuterMonkey Posted October 22, 2013 #3 Share Posted October 22, 2013 We'll be sailing on her next summer =) We've previously sailed on Voyager which is the same class of ship and about mid-size for RC. We loved our cruise on Voyager. The ship is big enough to have most of the 'fun' amenities but not so big that the crowd is overwhelming. Navigator is also getting refurbed soon so she should still be pretty shiny by next fall.
vital1 Posted October 24, 2013 #4 Share Posted October 24, 2013 The Navigator was my first (and only so far) RCI ship to sail. We went over Thanksgiving week out of NOLA last year. It's a beautiful ship! It was just my DS13 and I. We watched football in the sports bar, played mini-golf, watched the adult dodgeball match and he sat with me as I did the beer tasting class in the pub. We were never bored and had a fantastic time! We went on the Conquest, again out of NOLA, this past June with my BF and his son (14). We had a great time, but my DS14 (now) wants to do Freedom of the Seas next year over a Disney Cruise. I think that says a lot about the Navigator of the Seas introducing us to RCI since we've sailed Disney before. You'll have a great time! Even if you don't gamble you need to go to the entrance of the casino and look at the Mardi Gras theme and check out the plexiglass floor!
dudaze11 Posted October 24, 2013 #5 Share Posted October 24, 2013 I've been on two Voyager class ships and will be sailing Navigator next year as well. Both the VOTS and AOTS were great ships. Navigator is having a Flowrider installed which I am really looking forward to. Hope this helps.
matj2000 Posted October 24, 2013 #6 Share Posted October 24, 2013 Instead of having everyone "tell you" about the ship. Try doing you own research. The member reviews about the ship is a good place to start, there are hundreds of them. Also use the search function, there is plenty of info already out there. It just takes a little work... Comment with out substance Thanks Sorry about the snippy reply. I can't figure out why some people feel the need to post in such a negative manner. Oh, well, just ignore. We've booked our first cruise on the Navigator for next May. We've been on the Voyager, Explorer and Mariner which are all sister ships. I know it will be classy and well-maintained. Not to mention the wonderful Texans you'll meet :-)
DaNana Posted October 28, 2013 #10 Share Posted October 28, 2013 Navigator hasn't been in TX previously. Out of NOLA and the Mediterranean most recently. We were on her in the Med this last May and liked her so much we are going next November 2014 out of Galveston! We have been on Voyager out of Galveston and believe it will be even better on Navigator after her refurb. There really are some great reviews of her on CC boards. Just know most folks are out here to help! ;) Enjoy your cruise on Navigator! :D
satxdiver Posted October 28, 2013 #11 Share Posted October 28, 2013 First ignore the trolls who cannot post anything reasonable. We will be on the NOS in December out of Galveston of course. It is one of the voyager class ships and basically they are all the same. We have been on the Adventure, Mariner and Voyager so after this cruise we will only have the Explorer left! Through the center of the ship is the royal promenade which on deck 5 is made to look like a street scene in Europe. The inside rooms on decks 6, 7 and 8 have bay windows overlooking the the center below. You may want to look into one of those if you are looking at an inside cabin. Deck 5 has the British pub and cafe promenade (24 hour small sandwiches etc) and is the center of activity on the ship. The piano bar, schooner, on deck 4 is right outside the casino. Depending on the piano player, it can get real crowded. Also on deck 4 beside schooner bar is the disco called the dungeon (it really reminds me of a dungeon!). Deck 3 has the ice rink where they have an ice show. The big show on the ship is the Quest where it gets hilarious. It is definitely not for the straight laced set. Don't miss it. Galveston Cruiser Posted October 28, 2013 #15 Share Posted October 28, 2013 Sailed the Navigator several years ago in the Med. after doing the TA on the Voyager to Barcelona. She is really a nice ship; liked her better than the Voyager. Will be on her again next Sunday for 21 days; bringing her to Galveston.
griffy116 Posted October 28, 2013 #16 Share Posted October 28, 2013 We were on the Navigator last summer cruising from Rome in the Med. It's a gorgeous ship. The Promenade is something I would miss on a ship without it. It's a great place for people watching. The parades and the 60's and 70's shows held there are loads of fun. They always have something going on there. The outdoor pool activities are great. The ships layout is nice. The crew is fabulous. Great shops and pubs. The casino is New Orleans style with a plexiglass floor that is really cool. Don't miss the Main Dining Room on sea days (Tutti salad). It's shameful to call it a salad bar. It's got seafood, grilled chicken and other meats and any veggie or green imaginable and they chop and mix it for you to order. They also have a great menu that you can order from in addition to the Tutti Salad. I always have a small Tutti salad and an item or two from the menu. They have great burgers at lunch in the Main Dining Room too. Johnny Rockets, Chops and Portofino's are good. Promenade Cafe always has yummy pizza and sandwiches, desserts (don't miss the coconut cookies),and drinks. Ben & Jerry's ice cream is in the Promenade. Mini-golf, basketball court, plenty of outdoor activities, including the hot tubs and adult pool area (Solarium). Great gym and running track. You'll love the ship. Because our trip was very port intensive, once again, we didn't get to do everything we wanted to. Don't miss the ice show. If you plan to use the ice rink, carry long pants and shows. Don't miss the Quest. Give the rock climbing wall a try. I can't remember everything on the ship, but this gives you some idea of the choices you have. Desiree D Posted October 29, 2013 #23 Share Posted October 29, 2013 I'm glad you enjoyed the YouTube video! If you have any detailed questions please ask, as I've sailed on her three times.] Thank you for being so helpful, mpoole3! I absolutely love your cabin video, but one question. Now I am even more excited about our cruise/cabin, BUT, did not see the mini-fridge, you did have one, right? What year is this video? I notice that you are near (?) the back of the ship. We will be up two decks and more center, cabin 9288. What are your your thoughts about ease of "navigating" the Navigator from our location? This will be the highest deck we've sailed, and looking forward to that balcony. I'm also wondering about our view of ports on starboard side, not that it matters in the least! Thanks for your willingness to be so helpful. Very much anxious and looking forward to our sailing in a year! And very happy to see people posting and responding about this specific ship, soon to be sailing from Galveston! WHOOO HOOOOO
bilyclub Posted October 29, 2013 #24 Share Posted October 29, 2013 The nightclub is down on deck 3. The Ixtapa Lounge is a lounge. :) I'm a little confused, now. So they are putting cabins where the dungeon is? I would consider the Dungeon a disco/dance club, anyway.

That's what the deck plans show on RCCL site for post dry dock. Also reducing the size of the spa for cabins.
