Taking Alcohol Onboard Royal Princess

My family will be sailing on the December 15 sailing and I know on the Princess website it says that each passenger over the age of 21 can bring onboard one bottle of wine or otherwise. Does that have to be in a "checked" bag or can it be in your carryon and how strict are they on that limit? Also could you put a bottle in each of your checked bag and then a bottle each in your Carryon?

Official Cruise Contract is one 750ml bottle per person over 21 of wine bubbly for use in your cabin when boarding. Extra bottles are charged a $15 corking charge and can be used around the ship. No "otherwise" alcoholic beverages allowed. Non alcoholic beverages are allowed. The best place to carry the wine is in your carryon.

Some people do get away with more wine with out paying the corkage fees. Also some are able to obtain more wine at ports of call.
