Absolutely lovely photos! I've seen photos before, but often they miss some of the areas I've wanted to see more of, and you've really managed to capture much of that! Nice to get such an in-depth look at the ship that's about to become my home for four months next year!

 

This is going to sound like a strange question, but I really can't tell from the photos, did you happen to notice if there was a craps table in the Casino? :D

Regarding the craps table, I will go out on a limb here and say no, there isn't one. I really didn't spend much time in the casino and certainly don't recall seeing one. The casino on QE is quite low key and it was never that busy. In part because the cruise was so port intensive, but also because there were so few Americans onboard and generally the Brits are not big gamblers.

Looks like we will be spared the celebratory shouts of elation that strictly has a record of making;) (light hearted humour) and on the whole that is a fair comment about we 'Brits' and gambling. My wife and I have never, ever set foot in a casino!

I'll have to check it out. I'm sailing with a group of several friends, some disembarking in NY and the rest of us in Ft. Lauderdale.

Wonderful review and glorious photographs. She is such a pretty ship. I did a 5 day trip 3 years ago with my mum and I'm now working on my DH to go on her & your itinerary is one I would very much like to try. Thank you!

 

Can't believe it's been 3 years since we were on board. We are waiting to board QV in 11 days for a 12 day trip. Not been on QV, looking forward to it.

Thank You for your wonderfully detailed review of the Queen Elizabeth. She is a beautiful ship. We sailed for a short 5-day voyage in 2011 but, were so busy running around Bruges, Rotterdam and Paris we only got to enjoy her at night. I long to experience a proper 12-day cruise aboard this glorious vessel.

 

Gorgeous pictures, will enjoy them in full on my day off tomorrow. :)

Have a wonderful cruise on the Royal Princess she looks really lovely too, looking forward to your pictures from that voyage.

I've not been on the QE, but it looks just like the QV - only with much more brown !

Actually QV is the darker and more brown of the two. QV has more than one nickname that harkens to her rather "brown" decor. ;)

 

QE is a bit brighter, especially the carpets, and far more art deco. QV was meant to be more Victorian in her decor, hence the name. Bottom line is that the decor is mostly negligible between the two, and I would be happy to sail either.

I'd agree that the QV is darker, but the QE looks browner to me. But I think you are right when you say the QE is more art deco - and I rather like art deco.

 

BTW - Were you on the QV a couple of months ago to The Baltics ? Only from your pictures, you look a little familiar.

Nope that wasn't me. I sailed on QV out of Southampton on a Norway cruise a couple years back. It was a great trip!

Hi Catherine, enjoy QV - should be lovely. Let's hope we get to be on the same ship at some point in the future again. We did Oriana this April with Mum & Dad, lovely ship but Cunard is still my favourite line. :)

I agree with the other posts - stunning photos which give me that pang of missing the QE having sailed on her twice. I have to ask - where there no other passengers? Your shots make her look as if you sailed alone!

Even with a full ship the QE never felt crowded. I do time my picture taking carefully (usually around 11am) when most passengers are ashore and the lighting is good.

When we went on QE to Norway in the summer we were full - the chief engineer told us it was fuller than he'd ever known (i.e. Full to the brim!) it was our 4th cruise but the first where the ship felt crowded. Hasn't put me off though...can't wait til we travel again!

Nice to hear this as I have always fancied visiting that beautiful country and before we do decide, I will be asking my usual three thousand, three hundred, and thirty three questions about the best itinerary.

 

Keeping this conversation on topic.. I am my very own worse critic when it comes to photography and I really enjoy looking at pictures other folks take to get what I call both ideas and inspiration.

 

Your images and those of our other resident expert ;)will be studied several more times before I set sail and I am appreciating all the excellent advice you are so very kindly offering.

 

When I get aboard and if.... If I get the time, I am going to try playing with taking some HDR images of the more impressive locations. I think that when done properly or should I say done to my taste, this type of photography can be 'mind blowing'.

 

I confess to not being a fan of the 'in your face' type examples, but when done properly, it really brings out both highlights and detail! Unfortunately I am no expert, so this cruise is going to be a learning curve so please keep all these tips coming and thanks again for taking t5he time to share these excellent pictures :)
