"LIVE" (hopefully?) from Allure of the Seas, November 10th, 2013

Recommended Posts

Had a great breakfast at Johnny Rockets this morning. Very peaceful on the boardwalk. Such a welcome change from the hustle, bustle and chaos of the Windjammer!

Enjoyed the view of the aqua theatre....

Thanks for reporting.

We will be on the Western Caribbean on December 1.

We will have 3 children (and a couple of adults that act like children) in our group. Could you let us know what 3D movies are being shown.

Or even better, could you take pictures of the Cruise Compass events list and post them.

Thanks.

Gordon

Currently it is the Croods & Man of Steel

Good morning from the Allure!

Looks like a beautiful day so far, although the forecast is a chance of thunderstorms....I will have to get some sunning at the pool deck done early, just in case!

We had some peeks of sun yesterday, but then had rain and cloudy sky's intermittently starting around noon yesterday. Since I'm informed we had snow in Chicago yesterday, I have no complaints.

After breakfast yesterday, did some exploring around the pool area. The Solarium on this ship is huge compared to other ships in the fleet, but the actual pool is pretty small.

I like the beach pool, spent some time there yesterday before the sky's opened up.

I also made a visit to the Windjammer for lunch yesterday. Definitely more limited selections than on other ships in the fleet. I did appreciate the fact that they seat you now, instead of wandering around trying to find a table. However, if you are a party of 1, they just usher you in, and you basically have to find a place to sit on your own. Tried the much talked about Coconut Ranger cookie. It was just meh.....okay. Couldn't really taste the coconut--it was more like an oatmeal raisin cookie, without the raisins.

Dining room food has been just "okay" on this sailing. Prime rib was tasty on the first night, beef tenderloin last night was still mooing when it was served, and I like my beef medium rare, but still couldn't eat it. Also tried the artichoke crepe, despite the advise from our waiter not to, and he was right....it was a bit bland. Appetizers have been good, as well as desserts....

Escargot report.......NONE!!!!!! I even asked the head waiter if there was any chance we might even see them one night on this sailing, and he reported they had not been served on Allure in over a year. When I mentioned that I had read on an online message board that they had been served occasionally, as well as regularly on other ships in the fleet, he told me that was impossible, and actually got quite belligerent about it!

Although we had no plans for any specialty dining, we've decided to book Rita's for Friday evening.

Yes, its very nice waking up to hear your report and seeing the photos.

Question, you said the selection in lunch buffet is limited, I have to be gluten free I don't expect any special attention, so I really count on meat carvings, plain veggies, potato and salad.

Is there a meat carving daily, any other meats served or poultry? Do they have a choice of veggies and how is the salad bar?

I would assume when you say there are more limited items in the buffet perhaps because there are many choices to eat different things on this ship.

Late at night what does the Promenade Café have to eat?

Thank you.

Thanks for the fun report !! We are sailing in 4 weeks and I really enjoy hearing about your experiences onboard. We also booked a hump, but not JS. I am in hopes to have our room steward bring us a couple loungers. We did that on the Oasis and it was perfect !! I start my day reading your posts !! Keep 'em coming

Well I can definitely tell you I had them one night on the Allure. (April 28 to May 5th, 2013). They were TINY though and slightly over cooked. So you're not really missing much. :o

Thanks for letting all of us live vicariously through you and enjoy the rest of your cruise! :)

They had a carving at the windjammer yesterday, I assume there is something different every day. If I recall, it was pork. There were also steamed veggies, and a salad bar. Our friends ate lunch in the MDR and enjoyed the large buffet. There are many choices for meals. I will try to check out the promenade cafe this evening after the comedy show to see what is served there!

Hi everyone, was feeling a bit under the weather this morning, and unfortunately missed the Meet and Mingle as a result. Bummed about that, because I've been chatting with some really nice people for months now, that I would love to have finally met, face to face.

Now that I have covered the hot topic of escargot availability, I can move on to SMOKING!!!!!

Yes, folks there is a new policy instituted this week. Smoking is only allowed in a section of the blaze nightclub and the casino, as of this sailing. No more smoking in Baleros, the Promenade pub, or a level of Dazzles. Same dedicated areas of the pool deck, 15 and 16 port side, and at the after deck bar on deck 17. Also, smoking was allowed in the Casino on formal night. Seems these changes will enable the January cutover to the new policy to happen more smoothly. I don't want to turn this into yet another smoking commentary, ( and I am a smoker) but thought this was rather noteworthy news, since there seems to be a lot of complaints about the promenade locations that allowed smoking. Also, for those of you looking for the smoke free towel (yet another smoking thread), there is a towel station by the H20 zone, which is on the non smoking side of the ship. ;-))

Ok done with controversial topics now. I was n a mission this cruise to find my favorite bartender in the fleet, Adrian. We'll I found him, alive and we'll in Baleros last night! He told us he'll be going to Quantam, so if you have a cruise planned on Allure, definitely look for him. he's the best!!!

Last night we had no shows planned, so we hit the pub on the Promenade. Great sing along entertainment!

Thanks for taking the time to share all the beautiful pictures. You mentioned you had a resevation for the comedy club. Just exactly how do you make one? I thought somebody mentioned you can do it online? And how far in advance?

You can sign-in and go to "My Cruises" and make Entertainment, Specialty Dining, and Excursion reservations (charged to your CC at that time). Show reservations for 02 FEB 2014 cru8ise opened this past September and excursions well before that. ken

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Adrian!!! Just saw him again a couple of weeks ago, October 20th sailing. At that time I asked him if he was going to Quantum and he told me that he didn't know yet. So, it sounds like things have changed since then?

Yes! First sailed with Adrian on Navigator in 2004. He always goes to the "newest" ship, I'm so glad I've finally caught up with him again. I told him he is a legend on CC! On a side note, one of my favorite lady crew members is Anna from Chili. met her on Navigator in 2004, she was Adrian's sidekick in Balero's, then happened upon her again in the casino bar in on Brilliance during our Panama Canal cruise on Brilliance. Found her again this week at Sorrrentos on Allure! Three cruises, three ships, and almost 10 years...what are the chances????!!!
