Ships Officers - what nationality are they?

I know when we cruise with Holland America most of the ship's officers are Dutch but having only cruised with Celebrity once, don't know what Celebrity has. Anyone know? We are doing a B2B cruise in Feb.

Most are Greek. The roots of the line lay there.

 

We had an American junior officer once. That was a first for us!

Greek. Some are from other countries but the majority are from Greece.

Mostly Greek apart from the Ecuadorian crews on the Xpedition.

 

Remember that the statutory crew members have to have European certificates to operate the ships as (with the exception of the Xpedition) they are European ships.

The staff captain (second in command of the ship) on the infinity is American.

A real mixture, on our last one, the captain was greek, the engineer english, the guest relations manager from hungary, food and beverage phillipines the HD was american

 

on the previous one the HD was austrian

 

so they look like they do not limit themselves and pick the best

Greek and Not Greek.

thanks very much! We always love talking to the ship's members and since we have travelled the world we love chatting about their countries that we have been to. Can't wait till Feb!!!!

Read the FAQ section in Celebrity's website it has a section about the officers and qualifications. We had many nationalities. Italian, Swedes, Greek, British, and etc. Was told that the universal language no matter what the officers are is English when on the bridge.

On the Summit the Captain introduced each officer and anounced them as either being Greek or wish they were Greek. We've been very impressed with every officer we've met.
