Becky Posted November 15, 2013 #1 Share Posted November 15, 2013 We will be driving in from upstate NY and I'm wondering what to expect for traffic/rerouting for cleanup after New Years Eve. Have only driven to the port once and only remember white knuckles and elevated heart rate and it was during the summer.
mommyto2girls Posted November 15, 2013 #2 Share Posted November 15, 2013 We will be driving in from upstate NY and I'm wondering what to expect for traffic/rerouting for cleanup after New Years Eve. Have only driven to the port once and only remember white knuckles and elevated heart rate and it was during the summer. There will be no traffic from the cleanup, it is usually a very quiet travel day.
jersey2 Posted November 15, 2013 #3 Share Posted November 15, 2013 I agree with mommy. Clean up in the Times Square area is usually finished before the sun comes up. The rest of the city is very quiet, especially in the a.m.

Budget Queen Posted November 15, 2013 #5 Share Posted November 15, 2013 There are also alternative ways to get to NYC you may want to consider. If you drive to Poughkeepsi, New Paltz thruway exit. Metro North is about $32 round trip and a very nice scenic ride into the city. About $6.50/day parking with free weekends. Another option is to take Mega Bus out of Binghamton- More cheap parking, nearby, and it's on the roomy Short line buses. Rate come out 6 weeks ahead and some very favorable rates most of the time. I use both these options, depending who I'm going with. I then take the 42 bus to Circle Line and walk to the ship, but cab fares from either Grand Central or Port Authority would be in the $15 or less range. Rare Keith1010 Posted November 16, 2013 #7 Share Posted November 16, 2013 I would not be concerned. Keith
ducklite Posted November 16, 2013 #8 Share Posted November 16, 2013 I would be more concerned with the possibility of bad weather than anything leftover from NYE. Autocorrect responsible for most typos...
