Rare conandrob240 Posted May 3, 2014 #51 Share Posted May 3, 2014 A few more Platinum questions: 1) two people are Platinum members but are staying in the same room. Do they each get a coupon for "dinner for two plus a bottle of wine" at Le Bistro? 2) do each get to send a bag of laundry? 3) can you substitute Cagneys for Le Bistro if willing to pay the difference? 4) I am surprising my parents ( who are both Platinum) by booking my own cabin & joining them. I am not Platinum. Will they allow the three of us to board priority together? If not, I may just not surprise them until on the ship. I don't want them to not do their special boarding b/c they want to stay with me. Thanks!

Cagneys can not be substituted. You can swap if off for something of the same or lesser value. 4. You should be able to board together

On the BA last month the free meal certificate listed which places could be substituted - they were equal or lesser costs places. In Le Bistro the extra cost items were still an added charge. Priority boarding is only for suite guests and VIP guests.
LegallyBlonder Posted May 3, 2014 #56 Share Posted May 3, 2014 rvsullivan -- "I'm not sure which port you are talking about" My husband and I only sail out of New York and book suites. The Suites escort waiting at the entry takes us to the front of the security line, and after we complete security, we are taken to the first check-in line and then to our Concierge station to be escorted on by one of the butlers (not necessarily the one assigned to our suite.) What I have noticed is that the entry suite escort is the same person assigned for Platinum/Gold VIP boarding. In New York we are escorted to the front of security and immediately to check-in. Sometimes there is a "Suites/Gold/Platinum entry sign, and sometimes not -- but there is always a separate entry for VIP guests to be taken to the front of security and check-in. We have not sailed NCL's new BIG ships, so I can only say this procedure is true in New York for the Dawn, Gem and Jewel, each of which we have sailed many times :) This is interesting to me- we did not have this experience in Gem's Garden Villa leaving from NYC last January. Despite making it clear to staff that we were suite guests, we were told to join the general security line. We were then directed to suite check-in. Everyone we spoke to in suites on that voyage had the same experience. I guess it varies based on the busyness of the port that day? or luck! By the way, I am not complaining about that embarkation in the least- it was quick and easy despite using the general security line, and disembarkation was a dream. I have cruised out of NYC at least a dozen times in everything from GV to aft SF suites and had exactly the experience since they remodeled pier 88. Before that security was after check in and suite guests from GV down where escorted to security to board first.
