Grandaughter and her dad are cruising from Tampa in March. Need suggestions for inexpensive 1 night stay. Would like it to have shuttle from airport to hotel and or shuttle from hotel to terminal. They don't want to rent vehicle as flight is later in the evening and cruising next day. Thanks much for any and all help.

We have used the Holiday Inn Express Rocky Point twice for their cruise pkg.

The cruise pkg includes: airport shuttle, room, breakfast, and round-trip shuttle to/from the port, back to either the airport or the hotel for those that have the cruise & park pkg.

The hotel is clean, near the airport overlooking the Bay and has a well organized cruise shuttle service.

Also, right next door -- the Hampton Rocky Point and Chase Suites Rocky Point. Same type cruise pkg. I would go with which on offered the best rate. The Holiday Inn does however have the better pool and view, but if arriving late, that may not be of importance.

Try Hilton - They have airport and port shuttles - good value for money

We stayed at the Hampton Inn Rocky Point. They provide a shuttle to and from the port, along with breakfast. Nice area. If you want to stay a little closer to the port theres a Hampton Inn downtown with the same services.

Agree that the Rocky Point area is nice. I've stayed at the Chase Suites & would recommend it.

In January I am trying out the Springhill Suites (#4 on this map) in the Westshore area. The reviews for it are good & it was inexpensive. Will report back how it was in January.

Bahama Breeze is about 1/2 mile away, nice atmosphere overlooking the water.http://www.bahamabreeze.com/

and Hogan's, over at the Best Western Bay Harbor, offers dinner with a view and decent prices. http://hogansbeachtampa.com/dining.aspx

For more upscale, there is the Rusty Pelican and The Chart House. They are both in the same general area on Rocky Point.

Hotels in the Westshore area are close to the airport and all offer free shuttle service. I am not aware of ANY hotel near the airport (Rocky Point or Westshore) who provide free shuttle to the cruise port unless you book their car park& cruise package and return for a one night post cruise stay.

Taxis from the area hotels to the cruise terminal charge $25.

We have stayed at Hampton Inn Westshore & Wyndham Westshore and can recommend both.

Check out the on line booking sites to compare pricing on are hotels.

We have stayed at the Holiday Inn Rocky Point twice so far. Both times, flying in/out Tampa, so no car. We just booked the Cruise Pkg without parking and it included airport shuttle, room, breakfast and roundtrip shuttle to the port and then back to the airport from the port. I believe the Hampton RP and Chase Suites also offer the same cruise pkg without parking.

Stayed at that hotel and highly recommend it. Staff was outstanding. Free shuttle to/from airport. Shuttle to port for a fee ($5???). Free local shuttle so you can go out to eat and hit a store for wine/soda. Large room with 2 beds and a sofa sleeper. Free breakfast. Great stay.
