Meeting place at Fort Lauderdale post cruise

We're doing a HAL cruise next weekend, returning to Fort Lauderdale on Sunday, January 12. Ten of us are flying out of FLL at 1500 (earlier flights were risky, and taking a 1530 non-stop gets us home the same time as a noon connection). In addition, two more in our party asked this question - "We have friends driving over from Ft. Meyers to pick us up for a 3-day visit and need a meeting place. They are frequent cruisers and say there's really no place to hang out at the cruise terminal and they don't want to be there at 7:00.

Where are y'all going to wait until your flights?"

Any thoughts or ideas?

You need a place for everyone to hang out or just your friends? Are the Fort Myers friends staying here or picking up the cruisers? Your question is a little murkey.

Everyone head to Dennys on Federal Highway for brunch/lunch and have them picked up there.

OR Lester's Diner is a straight shot in (have the Fort Myers people take 595 connection to 84 and Lesters is on 84 but still close to the port).

Thanks, sorry for the confusion.

It was a dual-purpose ask - those flying out at 1500 wouldn't mind having someone where else to hang instead of the airport. And, those being picked up by the Fort Myers people also need a place to hang for a couple of hours (since the Fort Myers people probably won't show up until 10 or 11 am).

We had considered a 'day room' at a local hotel, but with eight of us, that will be kind of tight.

This time of year? It is so beautiful out no one will want to stay inside the hotel. Get your bathing suits on and gather around the pool!

I think the day room is a great idea.

Well, it is FINALLY here - travel day! I can't believe we booked this on April 1, 2013 (we've never booked that far in advance!). We debated flying down day of, but to make my wife more comfortable, we decided to travel in day before. Good thing.... here is the forecast for our location tomorrow....

... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 1 am Sunday to 1 am EST

Monday...

The National Weather Service in Indianapolis has issued a Winter

Storm Warning for heavy snow... blowing and drifting

snow... and dangerously cold temperatures... which is in effect from

1 am Sunday to 1 am EST Monday. The Winter Storm Watch is no

longer in effect.

* Accumulations: heavy snow accumulations are likely with many

locations receiving 8 to 12 inches.

* Timing: late Saturday night through Sunday night.

* Other impacts: northwest winds will increase Sunday afternoon

and evening with gusts to 35 to 40 mph possible. This will

result considerable blowing and drifting of snow.

* Wind chill values: bitter cold air will spread into our region

Sunday afternoon and evening causing wind chills to drop to 25

to 35 below late Sunday night. Even colder temperatures will

occur Monday and early Tuesday with wind chills as low as 30 to

40 below.

Safe travels and have a wonderful cruise! It's cool (low 70s ) and cloudy with a chance of scattered showers in FLL today but it sure beats Indianapolis :D and most of the rest of the continental US today!
