Do you know if Sue Denning will be back on board as CD by the February 8, 2014 cruise? She is my favorite! Thanks!

Linda

Last I heard, Sue is due back around the 8th of February. As Mahdnc is currrently onboard, hopefully they can ask Ben Powney for an update.

Beware of Graeme. He'll talk your ear off in a high pitched whine. Ouch

One cannot help the sound of one's voice nor their accent. We have truly enjoyed all our conversations with Graeme. He takes his duty very seriously and we think that he is one of Celebrity's best.

Thanks for the link, Arno. I Sorry we'll miss you and Joanne this time.

.. do you happen to know if Graeme will be staying on board for the Jan. 11 cruise, or how much longer his contract is?

Yes. A friend who was onboard last week told us that he will be on our Jan 25th sailing as well. We also regret not seeing you onboard this year. Enjoy your Oasis sailing as well.

We will be on the January 11th cruise. Do you know if Perry Grant will be on board then?

Hi Readytogo,

I asked Perry about this a few weeks ago, and he advised that he's not taking off the 2 weeks in January, as previously thought. Hopefully, he will be onboard the January 11th sailing. Of course, schedules can always change, but I wish you a wonderful cruise. Happy New Year !

Thanks very much for the info Andy. He came on the Eclipse last January when we got off, and haven't seen him since we were on the Constellation before the Solstce was available. Have a Happy New Year, and many more cruises.

I will certainly make the inquiries to find out.

We are in Aruba now. Lots of firecrackers going off already as it is New Year's Eve. We pulled into port at about 8am and docked behind Coral Princess whom we had been sailing with out of Ft Lauderdale.

Ship's clock advanced forward one hour during the 2nd night of the cruise (the evening in between the 1st and 2nd full sea day).

We had dinner at Murano last night. Service and food were excellent but I don't think it was quite as good as our two memorable dinners at the Normandie 3 years ago on Summit. The goat cheese souffle was in a smaller dish this time and without the breaded lattice/caged dome that sat over the souffle. I had the Lobster Murano which was prepared tableside. We had another reservation for Murano later in the cruise, but I think we are going to change it to the Tuscan Grille to try it out.

I am looking forward to tonight's New Year's Eve festivities although we have to get up early tomorrow to do some diving at Curacao tomorrow!

Thanks for that piece of information, as I'm on the February 22nd sailing. I had thought that the ship's time would be adjusted, but a regular contributor to these threads, whose information is normally spot on, stated a month or two ago that the ship retained port of embarkation time, in this case EST. Good to know that the port arrival and departure times shown on the itinerary will be in sync with local times, which has been my experience with other cruise lines.

Thank you for starting this thread. We will be on board January 25th.

Would you be able to find out if the iLounge has the new iPad Air for sale?

We have a good obc on this sailing and I would love to have a good display for pictures of past cruise memories.

I just cruised by the iLounge which was closed (no staff) although the lounge itself was open. They have a working iPad Air on display and a couple of shrink wrapped boxes also on display behind the glass shelves. There is a price list for the iPad: 16GB WiFi = $529, 32GB WiFi = $629, and 64GB WiFi = $729. The price sign by the working model said "Available in Space Gray or Silver"

OTHER NOTES:

We ate at the Main Dining Room tonight and it was formal night for New Year's Eve. The normal menu had entrees that comprised of:

1. Herb Crusted Haddock Filet

2. Lamb Chops Provencal

3. Beef Wellington

4. Creamy Wild Mushroom Risotto.

There was a separate paper menu entitled "Celebrity Eclipse Holiday Specials". This menu had 5 courses listed:

1. Appetizer: Oysters Rockefeller

2. Soup: Butternut Squash Soup

3. Salad: Mixed Green Salad

4. Entrees: Broiled Caribbean Lobster Tail, or Duck A L'Orange

5. Desserts: Celebrity Signature Baked Alaska, Chocolate Tombstone, and Citrus Roulade.

You could mix and match from either menu (as well as ordering from the available-every-night selections. The food was very good. The table was set with New Year's Hats and Tiaras along with an array of noise makers. The dinner atmosphere was quite lively and festive (and this was Early Seating, mind you). I was glad that I did not book a specialty restaurant for New Year's Eve.

We went to our first evening show to see the comedian, Rich Ceisler, who was pretty good. Turnout was low perhaps because of New Year's Eve.

Thanks Mahdnc for the regular informative postings. It is really whetting my appetite for my up and coming cruise on the Eclipse on the next sailing, 11th. I wonder can you tell me if the weather is as expected. I am sorting my clothes ready for packing and I have planned that the only really warm clothes I will take will be worn for my travel to and from Miami. Other than a hoodie and a couple of pashminas I am packing only summer clothes. This has worked out well previously, but am aware that of recent years the general weather situation everywhere has become more changeable. Is it generally hot (70 - 80 degrees+) or will I need a few warmer pieces?

Enjoy the rest of the cruise!!!

Just a quick note to let you know that we are on the 12/28 14 night Eclipse sailing and everything is going well. We are concluding our first full day of the cruise (at sea day). A couple of observations:

Embarkation was easy. The check in area had several different lines to get to the 42 booths that were setup. There was a separate line for Zenith members and one for Elite Plus. Select and Elite were combined together in one line.

CC party was held on Deck 4 in Cellar Masters area at 11:15am. Our CC registration was 98 people. I am not sure how many people actually attended. However the event was well attended by several Celebrity staff including the Captain. Celebrity announced that they were going to set up a CC group bridge tour later in the sailing which is a nice touch.

Ship is in good shape. staff is quite pleasant, and we have enjoyed our meals at the Main Dining Room.

Mahdnc, Great posts and hope you're having a great time. Can you tell us if they are using vouchers for the Elite cocktail hour. thanks, we are on the 3/8 sailing

Mahdnc, I'm looking at possible dates for specialty dining and I'm wondering if you could comment on what night the second formal dining falls? I believe it is on Day 8 (Barbados) but would appreciate a confirmation.

Meanwhile, enjoying all your posts!

Fouremco, because of our special New Years sailing, our 2nd formal night was held on New Year's Eve which happened to be the 4th night of the cruise. So you cannot use our sailing as a guide on when your 2nd formal night will occur. If I think of it, I will ask Guest Relations the next time I am there.

laslomas, we have not packed anythihg heavier than what you have mentioned (and we are from Chicago). We have been to Aruba and Curacao (today). So far we have not had any need for a jacket or anything like that. The weather has been warm but not hot. We had short, occasional rain every day of this cruise except for today at Curacao when it was partly sunny all day today.

Muushka and rjrpar, we will be Elite after completing this cruise so I cannot tell you whether vouchers are being used for the cocktail hour, but I will ask some of the Elite members on the roll call and will get back to you.

OTHER NOTES:

Last night's New Year's Eve celebration was very impressive. After pulling away out of Aruba at 8pm, the Captain held the ship's position at 3.5 miles away from Oranjestad for the entire evening until after midnight. The port side of the ship (including our balcony) was treated to a spectacular sight of continuous fireworks that lit up the entire island for hours. Towards midnight, I counted over 36 separate locations over the island that were shooting show-grade fireworks. It looked like the entire island was being shelled WWII style.

Meanwhile back on the ship's pool decks, there was a ton of people getting ready to ring in the new year. It looked like Times Square. There was quite a buzz in the air--the band (Fusion) was playing, people were dressed up and holding glasses of champagne. The countdown timer was projected on the ship's radar dome for everyone to see. Many people were lining the port side of the pool deck to watch the impressive Aruba fireworks. The ship's horns went off at midnight. It was quite the experience.

Eclipse pulled into Curacao on schedule at 7am. I think alot of people were still sleeping in from the NYE celebration. As a port, Willemstad makes a very favorable impression from the ship as you dock. We did two shore dives on the island. The coral and fish were beautiful. Our guide commented how the auto traffic on the island was exceeding light because of the holiday.

We will do some gambling on this cruise, but we did not even look at the casino until tonight. I noticed the lack of $5 BJ tables.

Tongiht's show featured a xylophone virtuoso, Ian Finkel which showed at 7pm and 9pm.

Thanks so much. I should have realized that the New Year's formal night was your second, but I was thinking it was a late first for some reason. :o

Thanks so much for the information! We are on the 2014 eclipse holiday sailing and cannot wait. We were slightly worried that the ship wouldn't do much for NYE, but I'm glad to hear they're putting on a great experience to ring in the new year! Have fun!

Hi

We're sailing on the Eclipse Feb. 8th so am following your posts.

Thanks for doing this.

Was your Connections Party on the first sea day or the second?

If you happen to talk to either your CD or the Events Coordinator can you ask who decides which day and how far in advance they decide?

(We're trying to plan some roll call activities and don't want to conflict)

THANKS! :)

Captains Club Celebration: Jan 2 (Sea Day #3) 1-2pm (Early Seating) and 2:30pm-3:30pm (Late Seating)

Senior Officer's Cocktail Party: Jan 9 (Sea Day #4) 5:15-6:00pm (Early Seating) and 7:45-8:30pm (Late Dining)
