RickEk Posted December 30, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 30, 2013 Came across this today. Very sad. Click the link and scroll down. Avoid if you don't want to see the demolition of the original Pacific Princess... http://www.midshipcentury.com/#!news/c1qxi
Jim Avery Posted December 30, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 30, 2013 A sad end for sure. The inevitable end for just about all steel ships. The Tinworm never sleeps. Thanks for posting the link.
Astro Flyer Posted December 30, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Only a few cruise ships survive as floating hotels such as the Queen Mary. In 1992 we sailed the Pacific Princess from Ensenada to Honolulu. I'm lucky that I can visit my old aircraft carrier USS Midway as a museum in SD. Most end up on the scrap heap or as an underwater artificial reef & dive site like the USS Oriskany in Florida. Rare Essiesmom Posted December 31, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 31, 2013 Painful it is, but she is not at Alang (India), but at a shipyard at Aliaga, Turkey. EM
