A positive NCL thread.

In light of some recent threads thrashing NCL I thought I would add a positive one today.

 

I was booked on the Star for a Baltic Cruise in May and am unable to go. So I called this am and wanted to switch my reservation to do another Alaska trip only this time on the Jewel. (I did the Pearl in Sept and chose the Jewel this time as it has more time in Victoria and might get to see something this time :D). I called and the agent on the phone was very helpful and made the change with no problems. She even helped me chose a decent cabin (I like inside ones as i travel alone) not above or below any noisy areas. She applied the money I had already paid for the Baltic one and even allowed me to add the $250 deposit i "bought" on my last cruise. (Combined they made a big dent in my total remaining.) I even got a nice little $25 OBC (I see a nice Italian dinner in my future:D).

 

Just thought a positive experience would be a nice change.

When are you doing your Alaskan cruise? Seattle is a wonderful city to explore. Downtown and the waterfront area will have a lot of construction. But there will still be plenty of things to see especially the Space Needle.

Aug 30. (I made sure the Mariners were in town when picking the date). (Memo to self...order baseball ticket soon). I think I will fly up on thurs and wander around Friday. Last time I flew in the day before and didn't have time to check out the city. My sister lived there for a number of years so she will be my source of info on where to visit.

I was glad to read your thread/message. I haven't been following the Customer Service one -- I guess I thought it was strictly about Customer Service and not all positive experiences (maybe I am odd to differentiate?).

Last year we were arriving in Seattle by train and passed by the Mariners' stadium when they were playing the Oakland A's. We could hear the roar from the stadium. The A's won. :D

Absolutely! That woulb be 5 of my favorite things. In that order if I flip basketball and hockey. One of the reasons I love the Sun is the Sports Bar.

 

Although Cowboys football has been a downhill matter the last few years.

Not to throw cold water on your story, but you were well within the no-strings attached cancellation period. They were more than happy to accept your cancellation (they had no choice) and then book a new cruise. Cha-ching!

 

I find it interesting that a cruise line doing mundane, expected customer service is lauded as awesome? Have we fallen that far? Is mediocrity the new outstanding?

I'm a Mets fan actually. (Born and raised in Maine). I did go see the Mariners and Rays in Seot. It is a spectacular ballpark. Much better than that dump Fenway. Really don't care much about the Astros (can't even watch them on tv. They are in a peeing match with directv on their comcast channel and only about 40%of Houston area) even gets the channel.

I am hockey and baseball. Football bores me to tears. ;)

I love the guy. I actually went to his induction in Cooperstown on my B'Day in 1999. Hate that he and JD had a classic JJones/JJohnson. Oh well.

 

I cruised a few years back when my Mavs were in playoffs and I used internet time to check scores. It was not the year we won. I was on the Sun this year during March Madness and caught a lot of games in the Sports Bar. I also caught an Orioles game at the Hotel/Casino in Aruba. My niece 's huband pitched for O's last year but it wasn't his start. That would have been very cool.

I would think this is pretty standard. Your are well outside the cancel date, so they actually cancelled the first cruise, and booked a new one. Good deal for everyone.

 

Sadly, we generally hear about people that get upset over last minute changes.

Just pointing out the obvious. Recently NCL sent me my suite thank you card. Talk about outstanding customer service! I was overwhelmed they went above and beyond for little ole me! Does a cruise line get any better?

Well I don't care if there is ten threads about this. I'm glad to hear something good about NCL. I have been leary about booking them because most of what I have read/heard (not just here) has not been so positive. Enjoy your trip! and my goodness, heaven forbid someone be happy that something went right in their day.

Not true at all.

Sadly you can remove auto gratuity "just because." They may ask you for a reason but you are not required to give any. You can simply say you don't believe in auto gratuity and tip the staff personally. There is no predicate about unresolved issues. It can be your first and only trip to the customer service desk.

 

I said "predicated" upon, because that's what I meant. The intention is that they are only changeable based on unresolved poor experience. Here's why I say that:

 

"If there is a service issue can the service charges be adjusted on board?

Guest satisfaction is the highest priority at Norwegian Cruise Line. We have structured a guest satisfaction program designed to handle any concerns about service or on-board product quickly and efficiently. However, in the event a service issue should arise during your cruise please let our on-board guest services desk staff know right away, so that we can address these in a timely manner. It is our goal to reach a satisfactory solution to any issue when it happens and make sure our guests can focus on enjoying their cruise. Should your concerns not be met with satisfaction you can adjust the charges"
