Cy'all@C Posted January 6, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 6, 2014 Where are the best and if any, "secret" viewing areas on the Westerdam? We are booking an inside or oceanview and want to be in close proximity to them. Thank you. Trudy
frankc98376 Posted January 6, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 6, 2014 The bow will generally be open in Tracy Arm Fjord and Glacier Bay (weather permitting). We we on Oosterdam and there weren't really any "secret" areas. Evidently most of the Vistas are leaving the forward viewing decks on 5, 6, and 7 closed throughout the cruise. You could always make friends with someone in an aft wrap around cabin- great views from back there and some are covered.
janmcn Posted January 6, 2014 #3 Share Posted January 6, 2014 If you are near the Promenade Deck you'll be in great shape…I always loved being there…you can walk as you're viewing or, you can "cross through" to the other side easily! We usually book an ocean view for AK for this reason…Main Deck, midships. Easy to get anywhere. The Crow's Nest, etc. are always way too crowded…as are the front viewing areas…and too cold with the wind.
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 6, 2014 #4 Share Posted January 6, 2014 No Secret areas for viewing. The bow will be open weather permitting -- allowing you to see from the front of the ship. port side and starboard side.
Cy'all@C Posted January 7, 2014 Author #5 Share Posted January 7, 2014 I think we got a little spoiled with the "secret decks" on Island Princess. I do like the idea of being on the main deck near the promenade.... and befriending an aft guest is a good one too! :) Thanks! Trudy
dadroy Posted January 8, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 8, 2014 Be sure to track down where they are serving the pea soup and hot chocolate. Yummy!
zookiebird Posted January 8, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 8, 2014 I agree with the others who suggest the Promenade deck. Its not nearly as crowded, much easier to move around and great for picture taking.
