I'm sorry if I missed something here -- if the ocean terrifies you, why are you going on a cruise?

When i 8 I witnessed a shark attack in Galveston. Ever since then I wouldnt swim in mirky wayers.since carribean waters are clear I hope to overcome fear of water and booked nothing but snorkeling excursions.I love being near and on water...spend my whole weekened fishing in lake livingston. Its when i fall in i start to panic.

seems like it would have been prudent to book one snorkeling excursion to see how it goes, then book a second or third if you felt good about it?

anyway, like some have said, you are maybe overthinking things a bit, I used to plan things out to the nth degree and watch it all fall apart ( or make everyone around me miserable to get what I wanted ) nowadays, I still do it, but my wife is the one that gets bent out of shape much more easlily than I do about things.

we are pulling for you, just when is this cruise you are taking?

I am taking the carnival magic on my birthday on 5/4/14- 5/11/14 . I just strongly believe in faceong fears head on since most fears are irrational. Whem was 5 got bit by a hornet and had to go to hosiptal. Got so sick of being afraid of wasps and bees. I went to a honey bee convention and even put on a bee suit and went in one those bee farms. I was terrfied but walked out changed. Hope this cruise helps me conquear fear of getting in the ocean. And be better and stronger for it.

Thank you hope it goes well. I was thinking of trying my first slot machines but seems like general consensus they are waste of.money

Well, the casinos onboard are interesting places. I only go to the ones on Celebrity, since they are smoke-free. I still don't ever win, though! ;)

Yes, they're technically a waste of money, but penny slots if they're available are fun and don't waste a tremendous amount of money. Put a $20 and you'll be amused for 20 minutes at least.

I disagree, and not just money-wise. If I learned anything from the reading I've done, it's that unpredictability of any kind can really unsettle an autistic person. And slot machines are as unpredictable as it gets. I'd instead suggest something mellow with an element of repetitiveness (read: predictability). Maybe standing or sitting at the stern, watching the wakes trail behind the ship. After all, countless people on here said how soothing they find it.

Hi there...I love orbitz lights and gloving! :) Also, I think you are the only one who should decide what you want to do or what you "should" do. You are the one with Aspergers and so people who don't have that, should not be telling you what to do, where to go, how to feel better. Only you know what is soothing to you or what makes you feel better.

But please, try not to put too much money in the slots. I live in Nevada and I can tell you that slots are no different at sea. A casino is a casino and it is designed to rob you of all your money. Even the carpets in a casino are designed to make you want to be there, and to gamble more. Casino carpet often has patterns that point directly toward the tables. (Seriously, its true. Just look for yourself.) It's all psychological manipulation....ever notice there are no windows or a clock in a casino? That's because they want you to lose track of time, and to spend all your time there, and all your money!

Also, I wanted to mention --- most people have the same fears you have, even if they do not have Aspergers. When you see people looking so "normal" or "not afraid" of social situations, realize they are acting....just like actors in a movie. It's all a sham. Most people, are still nervous when they meet people they don't know. You are not the only one who is nervous....so is everyone else. They have just learned how to hide it better.

I hope you have a wonderful time snorkeling, and swimming, and enjoying the ocean. Most of all, enjoy being with yourself...you are your best friend. No one else. Peace to you!

What Artist said. I wanted to say this before but the convo went off on different tracks.

It's called the Spectrum because -- like light (!) frequencies on the electromagnetic spectrum, all people are on it. Some are way at one end, some way at the other, and most of us are somewhere in the middle.

I for one cannot stand to be in a casino -- too much stimulus (or is that too many stimuli?) -- just being there, I don't even have to play! But I know this because on occasion I've had to walk through one to get to my room or the restaurant when passing through Nevada. You won't know without experiencing a little of it yourself.

Just keep those magic lights handy!
