Getting from the port in Amsterdam to the airport

The cruise line transfers seem quite expensive. Is it easy and less expensive to get a taxi at the port to get to the airport? Can you pay by credit card?

Yes, it's much cheaper and there were many cabs in line and the

they did have credit card payment options.

Any one know how far the port is to the city center?

Not very far at all. We took a tram from the port to the Central Station which is in the city center (it's only a few stops, IIRC) .

This was a few years ago - I am not sure if things have changed (?different port), but most likely not.

When you get through the terminal turn right and walk 1/4 of a mile and you will be at the Central station. The cruise ship terminal is in the city. Super convenient and a 20 euro cab ride (I think) to the airport.(Schipol). How good can it get!...:)

A couple of years ago we called our hotel (Sheraton Stockholm) and they arranged for a driver to wait right outside baggage claim. We felt we could not handle our luggage any distance. He had a sign with our name and helped with our luggage so we did not have to drag it in/out of terminal, train, etc. It was quite convenient and not that expensive.
