BandM Posted January 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Is it possible to upgrade your room while checking in at the cruise port? If oceanviews or balconies are available would Royal offer them at a discounted rate?
Ken at the beach Posted January 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Is it possible to upgrade your room while checking in at the cruise port? If oceanviews or balconies are available would Royal offer them at a discounted rate? You are better off checking the website for last minute deals a day or 2 ahead of your cruise and paying the difference to upgrade. The majority of times that we have sailed there is a sign out at guest services saying that the ship is full and no upgrades are available. Yes, if OV or balcony cabins were still available, they would be offered at a discounted price. Haven't heard of this happening in several years, however. However, if you want to try, first check-in the normal way, then ask to see the Pier Coordinator. You must do this before you board the ship. Merion_Mom Posted January 17, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) It happens. After you check in at the pier, go over to the desk of the Pier Coordinator. (your check in agent will point it out to you.) I have seen available cabins being sold as recently as September 7, 2013 - Oasis of the Seas. At that time the offer was $150 or $250 (darned if I can remember) to go from Boardwalk balcony to Oceanview balcony. (for the cabin, not pp) Edited January 17, 2014 by Merion_Mom
hollon Posted January 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 17, 2014 What if it says "sold out", everytime I as the rccl agent, they say ship is full, is it really full? Does anyone know where the P.C is n FLL?
Esmerelda Posted January 17, 2014 #8 Share Posted January 17, 2014 Yes, always check if this is something you are interested in. When we sailed the Oasis, we inquired at check in. They sent us to guest services on board. We were put on a waiting list. The next day (Sunday), we were at the desk for something else when the person helping us saw a note on our account. They did offer us an upgrade but the price was more than we were willing to pay plus we were happy with our current cabin by then. The "ship is full" sign was up so always ask. There were at least 8 people on the list before us and a few of them did take the upgrade. Just ask, you never know what the outcome might be! Good luck! Rare whitshel Posted January 17, 2014 #9 Share Posted January 17, 2014 It does happen, we upgraded from an ocean view to a grand suite at the pier for $700 total for a 9 night Voyager cruise. Granted it was 6 or 7 years ago but it does happen. The rooms then were highly discounted, you can search the forums for a price list. If I remember correctly to go from an inside to a balcony was $250. Definatley check with the pier coordinator, it may happen.
