Dave85 Posted January 22, 2014 #251 Share Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) if these concerts is going to be in the theater then what is going to happen to some of the shows they might have on that night? Looks like they might be less overall entertainment for some passengers JH posted on FB that the rest of the entertainment around the ship would proceed as usual, I think he specifically mentioned Punchliners and/or any previously scheduled deck parties. But yes, I think it's fair to expect that there would not be a main theater entertainment for the other guests on that evening. arf2005 Posted January 22, 2014 #252 Share Posted January 22, 2014 How did you find that list? It's under excursions - but as of right now it's only listed for Nassau - not for the other two stops. The starting price is listed as $99!
ScottsSweetie Posted January 22, 2014 #253 Share Posted January 22, 2014 (edited) Like! Wait until we start sailing on ships full of fans of these acts and they are the teeny bopper type of act. Time to try another line I think after my next cruise. Yeah, I bet those Olivia Newton-John fans are some real rabble rousers! And I wouldn't call Kansas, Foreigner, or Styx a "teeny bopper type of act". Rare rrraydon Posted January 22, 2014 #256 Share Posted January 22, 2014 I don't think the "griping" has so much to do with paying a fee to listen to a concert on a cruise ship... .since I think it's so ridiculous I wouldn't even book on a ship that has one...but hey that's my prerogative..to each its own..I think the "griping" is more about the "hype" that was started by Carnival and in the end, the "big news" was..eh..as usual. Thebosn1 Posted January 22, 2014 #269 Share Posted January 22, 2014 Seriously??? I'd much rather prefer a steel drum band on Lido than any of these boring performers. What a dissapointment! "Betcha" knew this announcement was NOT going to be brilliant. I sure did. I have to admit it is a slick idea for Carnival, and if I had enough cocktails I may even pay $20 to see Chicago. But all I really wanted was a couple guys playing steel drums and a decent sail away party. But since that would have been free, I should have expected something like this. I have to read the details but if you really do stay in port late on concert nights that would be cool, and I can always just avoid the itineraries that have the concerts if I want.

I was just going to post that I wonder if the prices for the cruises themselves will be higher...you beat me to it! :) So in reality, every passenger on that sailing is paying a premium in their cruise fare whether they plan to attend the concert or not...pretty slick Carnival. T. Advisor King Posted January 22, 2014 #271 Share Posted January 22, 2014 Here's the announcement posted 4 minutes ago on JH's FB page: CARNIVAL CRUISE LINES ANNOUNCES ‘CARNIVAL LIVE CONCERT SERIES’ .... Carnival has booked 49 performance dates for the 2014 concert series with the following artists: · 38 Special · Chicago · Daughtry · Foreigner · Gavin DeGraw · Jennifer Hudson · Jewel · Kansas · Lady Antebellum · LeAnn Rimes · Martina McBride · Olivia Newton-John · REO Speedwagon · STYX · Trace Adkins It is certainly not an embarrassing list, stespecially for fans of classic rock. However (and I didn't notice anyone posting this already), be aware that if you're going to see Chicago, Foreigner or Styx, you may not be getting what you think you are. A band is more than just its lead singer, but assuming Wikipedia is accurate, Peter Cetera no longer tours with Chicago, Dennis DeYoung no longer tours with Styx and Lou Gramm no longer tours with Foreigner. You may be getting the personnel currently touring as "Chicago", but it won't be the same singers you now listen to on your iPod.
Rare jimbo5544 Posted January 22, 2014 #272 Share Posted January 22, 2014 Ive seen all these, some 2-3 times and Except for Trace, it was back in the 80's:eek: For what it is worth, it sure beats b-list versions of Chicago or god forbid hairspray. As mentioned before, they probably threw Jennifer Hudson and other top entertainers in the mix to grab media attention, but Carnival will need to book artists that are cheap enough to generate revenue if these series will continue. Dixie24 Posted January 22, 2014 #275 Share Posted January 22, 2014 The 5 day April 21 Triumph cruise went from $329 yesterday for an inside to $459 today. The 5 day cruise before and after is still $329, so I am guessing it will have a concert on it.
