WesternTrader Posted January 30, 2014 #1 Share Posted January 30, 2014 We will be travelling on Millennium later this year and I wonder if someone could let me know if M class ships have ATMs and if so, what currency they carry? Many thanks WT

We used it to get USD. Don't know if other currencies are available. (BTW, there was a $6 fee for each transaction...)

Thanks 4774Papa. It's US$ that I was after, but the transaction fee is a little steep - that's even more than my bank would charge for this service - maybe it's time to invest in a money belt!!! Your help is appreciated.
simon stingray Posted January 30, 2014 #6 Share Posted January 30, 2014 If you're worried about carrying too much cash you could always get travellers cheques in $ from your bank. They cash them onboard at guest relations or in the casino with no fee.
KirkNC Posted January 30, 2014 #7 Share Posted January 30, 2014 Wow  $6.00, that's a bit steep. Virtually every port has one that is probably cheaper. Make sure your card is set up for international transactions as they usually are not to minimize fraud.

I notice you're heading to Asia on Millennium - that's where we'll be next month and I'm just finalising some of my excursions at the moment, which prompted the question as US$ seem to be the currency of choice for guides in Vietnam! Thanks again WT
pmfm Posted January 31, 2014 #10 Share Posted January 31, 2014 There are usually 2 ATMs on the ship, one in the casino and one by Guest Relations. The one in the casino always gives dollars, the one by Guest Relations gives Euros if the cruise is sailing in Europe. If you're sailing in the Caribbean, Asia, Australia or South America I'm not sure what the second ATM would dispense. I usually use the casino ATM if I need cash. For anyone in the Northeast it might pay to open an account at TD Bank - they refund all your ATM charges from non-TD Bank ATMs. I've had this card for years now and it's saved me a lot. I'm not sure but there might be a minimum account balance requirement.
