Having a great time already! A quick report of the good and the needs improvement: parked at Park Right and would highly recommend this service and you'll save a nice chunk of change. Plus, the parking lot at the pier is a snowy mess and cars are plowed in. Embarkation was a breeze. Lunch at Cagney's was a delight, steak was only fair but sides, apps, and desserts outstanding. Our room is bright, cheerful, and immaculate, love it! We found the smell of the casino to be very strong of smoke and thought the odor did waft. The lifeboat drill was a definite needs improvement and feel the staff does have to get a little tougher in enforcing the rules. Dinner tonight in MDR and tomorrow our first time at Moderno :)

We are loving this! We have been blessed with calm seas and warmer than expected first day temps. People are enjoying the pools and hot tubs though it is too cold for us! We joined the spa and thoroughly enjoyed it this morning. Got up early and hit the exercise room, another beautiful and beautifully kept area. The crew is terrific, welcoming, helpful, and smiling. The food in the MDR was really darn good last night, we enjoyed it though we had quite a wait. Breakfast and lunch at Cagney's today was delicious. Tonight: ballroom dancing and dinner at Moderno. Life is good :)

We are pulling into San Juan and the weather is gorgeous. Enjoying a little free AT&T!!! Having a fabulous time ... beautiful ship and fantastic crew. Dinner at Moderno was extremely good but be prepared for very salty food (no wonder its so tasty) but you will be drinking water all night long! La Cucina was also wonderful and we could eat that bread with dipping oils over and over again. We had helicopters come by about 20 minutes ago to film for a commercial so everyone is very excited about that. One downside, as I mentioned before, is the smell in and around both the casino and the cigar bar :( Interestingly, it's a small percentage of smokers and many unhappy non smokers. I think there will be changes down the road on this one. Also, no mention of the mosquito problem in St Martin and we go there tomorrow morning, I am surprised by that. Off to enjoy the rainforest and mofongo!

If you like reggae music, check out the band on the Gem called New Season. We just got off the Gem a few days ago. The band is great and they have a very nice female vocalist. They are really friendly down to earth people. We hung out with them for a bit one night when they finished up around midnight.

Enjoy the Gem

I have saved the dailies so I will try to post them when we get home.

Yesterday was St Martin, which I was kinda disappointed in. We are now in St Thomas, waiting to disembark and it is a stunning sight!

Last night we had dinner in Le Bistro and it was mostly very good. The onion soup was only fair and the butter poached lobster tail is def not worth the $10 up charge, it was a tiny serving. The filet of beef and the duck were both amazing! The other issue is that Le Bistro is next to the cigar bar and the smell gets in, a terrible shame.

Oh and had a great time yesterday afternoon at the pool and New Seasons was playing :)

St Thomas was spectacular! If you have the opportunity to take the Cas Cay excursion kayak, hike, and snorkel - do it, one of the best tours we have ever done.

Our weather has been ridiculous ... I never could have hoped for this much and I almost feel guilty that friends, family, and coworkers are getting clobbered with a foot plus.

Tonight, back to Moderno and the best salad bar and lamb chops to be had! The salad bar is more like an appetizer bar with meats and cheeses, olives and anchovies, and a scrumptious Brazilian bean soup with chorizo ... I will be up drinking water all night again :)
