brmoqueen Posted February 16, 2014 #1 Share Posted February 16, 2014 The new menus have little to be said but the Shiitake menu is just nasty! Even employees make comments how bad it is. We were on a b2b and ate it one week (ordered iff the everyday part) but second week did Izumi. Concierge said people book the specialty rest a lot on shiitake night... killtheump Posted February 16, 2014 #9 Share Posted February 16, 2014 I really enjoyed the Veal Scaloppine Oscar and my wife loved the Chicken Caesar. But then again we are not real picky eaters!
Mapleleafforever Posted February 16, 2014 #10 Share Posted February 16, 2014 Doesn't look nasty to me. I'd go for the sole or lamb.
brmoqueen Posted February 16, 2014 Author #11 Share Posted February 16, 2014 I was just stating what I thought plus what the waiters, WJ waiters, Izumi staff, and other employees said too. It cracked me up how many people that worked on the ship thought the menu was bad. Course everyones tastes are different... To each his own! It cracked me up how many people that worked on the ship thought the menu was bad. Course everyones tastes are different... To each his own! True, tastes vary. I've had this menu at least twice and found many things to enjoy, including the Carpaccio and rack of lamb. I don't recall hearing any dissension among the ranks regarding this one, or any other night's menu. In fact, the waiter we had this last time around was as excited about the lamb as we were! pcur Posted February 17, 2014 #16 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Sounds to me like maybe the specialty restaurants weren't getting enough business, and the dining staff were told to encourage pax to "eat out" so to speak. I've had this menu several times, and tried just about everything but the lamb (don't like lamb). My husband loved the pasta pomadoro. To each his own, as stated above. dreamer976 Posted February 17, 2014 #17 Share Posted February 17, 2014 I've had the Seared Beef Carpaccio more than once and it may be my all time favorite appetizer on RCI - might ask for an "entree portion" of it on one of my next cruises. I've also had the Shrimp Gyoza Dumplings and thought they were quite tasty. Different strokes . . .
Jobeth66 Posted February 17, 2014 #18 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Anytime lamb is on the menu, I'm likely to be eating it. :) Do any of the restaurants on Allure serve venison?

SA Traveler Posted February 17, 2014 #22 Share Posted February 17, 2014 It is the Basil menu that doesn't much appeal to me. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using Tapatalk
Ashland Posted February 17, 2014 #23 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Question - if you are on a 5 day cruise (4 nights) does it just take off the last three menus? Ken at the beach Posted February 17, 2014 #24 Share Posted February 17, 2014 Question - if you are on a 5 day cruise (4 nights) does it just take off the last three menus? Not necessarily. It depends on the ship. When we sailed on Liberty Pomodoro was the last night and Mojo wasn't offered.
jerseygirl226 Posted February 17, 2014 #25 Share Posted February 17, 2014 I wonder if all 7 night cruises go in the same order. Figuring out when to book specialty restaurants. Want to do it a night that I'm not a fan of the menu. Would anyone know or does each ship do it in a different order? Thanks
