mlmc424 Posted March 7, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 7, 2014 There is nothing around the Cambria Suites - you pretty much need a car to get anywhere.
royalcruz Posted March 7, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 7, 2014 You won't see any cruise ships from those hotels. Doubletree Gallery One is a very easy walk to the beach though and there is great shopping and dining a block away! There is a Sheraton on the beach in Fort Lauderdale and one near the airport. eandj Posted March 8, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 8, 2014 Those hotels are not near the port OR water. Look at hotels in Ftl Lauderdale on the beach (aross the street) or around 17th St. August will have great pricing for these hotels.

CruiserBruce Posted March 8, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 8, 2014 Thanks any suggestion Suggestions on what? There are dozens of threads here on hotels in Fort Lauderdale. Just a little reading will give you LOTS of info. If seeing the ships in port is critical, I believe the only hotels you can do that from are Hyatt Pier 66, Hilton Marina and Embassy Suites. pistonpumps Posted March 8, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 8, 2014 Try the Hampton Inn & Suites Ft. Lauderdale Airport/South Cruise Port 2500 Stirling Road, Hollywood, Florida, 33020, USA TEL: 1-954-922-0011 FAX: 1-954-929-7118. We use this one. If you get upper floor, you can see the port and ship from the end of the hall. Has shuttle to cruise port. Small little strip mall across the street with dollar store and family bar/grill. Great for last minute items and nice meal after long day of travel. The Allure is visible from anywhere, beautiful ship. eandj Posted March 8, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 8, 2014 Thanks any suggestion Do you have a budget? Look at Bahia Mar if you want to have a moderately priced hotel by beach and water...(which I would advise in August) Or look at Embassy Suites or Hyatt Place North near 17th St. Scan other posts here for a few more ideas. Then read about them on tripadvisor.com for reviews, pictures etc
CRUISE BUG BIT HARD Posted March 8, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 8, 2014 We always stay at this hotel, however it can be a little pricey at times. They have a free shuttle from the airport so you don't need a car. There are probably 20 restaurants within a 4 block area, plenty of shopping also. Always had great service, a good free breakfast also. You can see the ships from the upper floor of the hotel and it is a 10 minute walk up to the causeway were you can look over the port. In the morning take a cab to the port instead of the shuttle offered by the hotel and you can be in line to get on the ship in 10 minutes or so. It is on the water and tons of shopping and dining within walking distance. It is also a short walking distance to the beach once you get over the bridge. This place is a tired old motel in dire need of replacement. The manager had a PA system that could be heard easily all over the property which he used to bark out orders to the guests. It was his way or the highway. Unfortunately we found out the hard way last month. We had checked TripAdvisor per usual and saw the great ratings. What we have since found out was that the manager challenged almost all negative reports and had them removed so don't trust TripAdvisor! BTW this hotel is several miles from the cruise port and you cannot see the port or ships. The name is highly misleading.
