Spring Break in Texas: Review of Navigator of the Seas March 9, 2014

O M G those are the BEST kolaches ever. I haven't had them in a few years; since my son moved back home from Austin.

The advantage of a ranch 8 miles from that shop... Dw's mom makes them also...they are Czech heritage.

Thanks Sat!!

Went down to mdr and made reservations for the week....just so we have it for the nights we want. Earliest was 5:45 PM. We're old, we like to eat early.

Will definitely be in the mdr tonight because it is my favorite dessert.

Now lined up at the Cafe Promenade for a Sprite Zero. I see lots of Dr.Pepper onboard, but wonder if they have diet. Probably not.

Smoking area is smelly (it is smoking after all), but it is confined to a small area. Not many there the two times DH went up....but we'll see how that is the rest of the time.

Need to go to the casino for my credit, but I'll do that later (they left me some paperwork to fill out)

Ohhhh dr.pepper is not part of soda package.

What is kolaches?

It is a sweet dough stuff with...stuff. The typical kolache is like a pig in a blanket, has sausage and cheese in it. But the true kolache is stuffed with preserves and fruits and cream cheeses...many other things. I suggest google it then when you get a chance try them. Oh my...so good.

Well, avoid the cafe today. 10 minutes to get a soda. He served 8 people who lined up behind me and the line was super slow due to all the specialty coffee orders. Usually that is my go to place for sprite zero, but may have to rethink that with all the new coffee packages.

Heading back up to the room to veg.

Oh, a quick pic of what you can drink at embarkation:

That wouldn't work for us. Part of our vacation is shutting our phones off and not turning them on again till we get off the ship a week later. We tell our bosses that there are no antennas out in the middle of the ocean. :D

Erika

Erika, we turn the phone off and don't use it but my iPhone 5, makes great pics and it serves as our camera 99% of the time.

WE are on this ship in Sept for the DW's 40th birthday. We also don't drink ( not even pop) so we are planning on taking water on board.

Hope the Fog lifts so you can get out on time!

There isn't enough fog at the moment to close things down. Just makes for a lesser view during sail away...

Yep, that's what we do too. Love the 13 mp camera on this phone, great pictures with little effort.

All the pics so far are with my phone camera (iphone5).

Fog really isn't too bad as we're docked.

Got the carryons unpacked and just chilling in the room. I forgot that embarkation day is so congested on the promenade....too many people :)

When you get back, can you repost this image?? I can't read it and am interested in the limitations. Not that big of a deal if you can't, but local laws intrigue me.

Recovering from a doozy of an ice storm, power back on last night and internet about an hour after the power. I'm following along, love these live reviews and will be on this cruise in April. Just wondering if the power & internet outage has caused my Cruise Critic to behave differently. I'm looking forward to the pictures. Right now they are showing small, like a postage stamp and even when I click on them, they don't enlarge very much. Usually they show up at least 1/2 screen, sometimes full screen. Any idea if there is some setting that's gotten out of whack?

Oh geez...I should know that. I'm in 1328.

1328, yep on the starboard side. You should be facing the webcam unless she backs all the way down the channel. Maybe we can get a pic of you as you sail by.

Hmmmm, re the pics, I wonder if it is because I am taking them on my phone and directly embedding them?

I can try to email them to myself and post them later once I get on the wifi.

I have the menus for suites...so I'll take pics of that and then try to take pics from the digital menus around the ship.

Spagirl - Usually what I do is upload to photobucket and then paste the Img tags in so that the pics are huge.

Hey Austin!! You must be on the same floor :)

Muster drill is in 25 minutes and then we'll see how long we stay on AT&T. When we cruised out of NOLA we had service for several hours.

Thanks clochette!!

Standing around for the muster drill. Unfortunately, we got an outside station and it's still too chilly to just be in a t-shirt. I'm all bundled up!

Going to head up to the Concierge Lounge after this to check it out.

I'm interested in the concierge lounge. My first time to sail D+ and my room is center of the hump near the CL.

Thanks!!

Concierge lounge had some people there already. It is deck 9 aft, but no view and somewhat small. No food was out yet, so we're vegging for awhile.

I'll make sure to compare it to the D Lounge and I'll go back when they have the am good spread out.
