Blue Elephant Posted March 10, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2014 I just noticed that the price of my Carnival Spirit cruise in July has dropped by $160. I booked directly through Carnival Australia's website. There are no obvious links on the Carnival Australia website for this situation. Can you in fact get a price drop with Carnival? I am not sure about whether you can phone them when you have booked on the web. Has anyone had experience with this?
icat2000 Posted March 10, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2014 Pick up the phone and call them to see if you can get it refared. It will depend on the terms of the booking and whether you are outside the final payment date.
Blue Elephant Posted March 10, 2014 Author #3 Share Posted March 10, 2014 Just picked up the phone. The lower price is a promotional price and only applies to new bookings! Sort of thought it might be like that. Ah well!
Kiwi Kruzer Posted March 10, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 10, 2014 Can you cancel and rebook?
cruisermsoon Posted March 10, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2014 You normally cannot cancel and rebook without incurring a prohibative cancellation fee. The best you can hope for is an upgrade to a better cabin category, within the cabin type you have booked.
Blue Elephant Posted March 10, 2014 Author #6 Share Posted March 10, 2014 The cabins we booked are the highest grade of balcony cabin, so no improvements are really possible there. Ah well, I suppose if I hadn't looked, I would still be quite happy with what we have booked.
Wastegirl Posted March 11, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Prices quite often drop within the final payment date. Have you looked at the prices of the suites, they might have dropped as well and are not much higher than your verandah room. Also even if you are within your final payment date, give them a call, I have often heard of people being offered OBC in lieu of a price drop. It can't hurt the most they can say is No.

Ah well, I suppose if I hadn't looked, I would still be quite happy with what we have booked. A friend of mine had booked a high grade of balcony cabin and upon arriving at the port noticed their room number had changed but no one mentioned anything about it being different. At first they were apprehensive about the change as they specifically picked their room for its good location. Turned out they had been upgraded to a suite  Don't get your hopes up in case, but it does happen ;)
Blue Elephant Posted March 11, 2014 Author #9 Share Posted March 11, 2014 Have already rung them. Cancellation would cost $100 per person and the price drop is $160, so will just put it down to experience. At least we got cabins in good position.
