Diamond Princess Post Drydock Deck Plans

Thanks for the info. Note from Deck Plans you attached that there is no International Café being put in during the dry dock. Was looking forward to this. Hopefully will still be put in and the plans are wrong.

The new cabins on Deck 6 will have reduced the size of the Casino. I believe these cabins will be very noisy as well.

Clearly these deck plans are incomplete as there have already been reports from onboard that Hearts & Minds on Deck 7 has been converted into new retail space. And all the ships being converted for the Asian market will have a sake & sushi bar added; whether on Diamond that will be in addition to, or in lieu of, the International Cafe one cannot tell as the Deck 5 plan shows no updates.

The Golden, Caribbean, Grand and Coral Princess all have had new cabins added in space carved out of the Casino; the hallway they are in is well isolated and most reviews have noted no casino noise at all.

I really hope an International cafe will be added. I do not see cabins on deck 6 as desirable at all.

So far, it is only Sapphire Princess where the chapel has been converted...

So much for peace and tranquility with it located right outside the doors of both the kids and teen clubs. Not sure this was totally thought out

I don't think it will be much of a problem... aren't Japanese kids more respectful?? :p;):)

Please see the Princess Web Page linked to the below URL. It appears that the International Café is not part of the upgrade - so very sorry. We loved the IC on the Golden Princess!

If you go to the link on the page to see pictures of the progress, it shows the kids club as being dismantled showing the space to be used for the Japanese Bath House.

The new deck plans don't show the kids or teen club being removed. In fact you have to walk right between them to get to the bath.

You are not looking at the right link. This link http://www.princess.com/news/press_releases/2014/02/Diamond-Princess-to-Undergo-Extensive-Drydock-Transformation.html#.UyMOnNzuGX1

Is the announcement that was made on 3/12 with regard to the dry dock changes.Within the body of the announcement is a link to click on pictures of the changes being made. That is where I saw the picture explaining (there is a little ? mark in the right hand corner) that explains the teen or kids club being removed to make way for the Japanese bath house. There is a whole series of pictures and they have changed since yesterday.

As there is going to be a new Sushi restaurant apparently where Sterling Steakhouse was in the Horizon Court, does that mean there will be no speciality steak restaurant onboard Diamond Princess?

Good question. I would think a Japanese style Steakhouse would make sense.......unless it is an American invention. According to the dry dock phot journal on the March 12 press release, the Sushi restaurant is going into space that was the Internet Cafe.

I did notice that the International Cafe was on the Promerade deck next to

Sabatinis. Could be the new location...As far as the cabins next to the casino

I think time will tell on that one, I think the smoke might bother me the most!

I think you misread it. It actually says the Internet café.....lol

Disappointed that it appears no International Café. Thought this was a Princess "feature" and was being installed onto all ships. I realise most changed are for the lucrative Japanese market but hello Princess the Japanese drink coffee too.

It does seem strange they are doing all this for the Japanese market when the ship will be in Australia and New Zealand for a large part of the year. I am booked on the Sydney to Singapore cruise in March 2015, not stopping anywhere in japan, but seem to be changing for the Japanese?

I haven't seen the new deck plans yet, but in reference to the cabins on Deck 6 being noisy or smokey, don't many Princess ships have their window suites on Deck 6 next to the casino? All reviews I've read seem to be good (we are booked in a windows suite on deck 6 on the Grand princess in May). I assume they are adding the same sort of Window suites to the Diamond, no?

Looking at the deck plans I see they are just regular ocean view rooms...not Window suites. Either way, there shouldn't be any issues with the casino as other ships have rooms in the same location and nobody seem to complain yet.

I think the only ships with window suites are the Grand, Golden and Caribbean. It is unlikely they will be added to any other Princess ship.
