AWiseChoice Posted March 12, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 12, 2014 For those that board the ship around noon can you eat lunch on the ship? Also, I thought I ready you can have a pocket knife under 4inches. Is this true? My husband thinks this is an portent question. Aplmac Posted March 12, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 12, 2014 Yes you can get lunch soon after you board ship even if you still have your carry-on luggage with you dragging around (bcoz your cabin isn't ready yet). Scissors and pen-knives with blades less than 4 in. are allowed on board unless they changed the rules recently. .
Justyman87 Posted March 12, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 12, 2014 I have no idea about the pocket knife but of course you can eat lunch on the ship when you board… thats basically what they tell you to do. Lunch will be served right up to the muster drill. Staterooms open variously, most by 1:30. Have fun!!
frayedend Posted March 12, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 12, 2014 Heck yeah, lunch is the main reason to board at noon! :D

Ehpride Posted March 12, 2014 #8 Share Posted March 12, 2014 The only things that should be closed when the ship is docked are the casino and shops. The main dining room may not be open until dinner on embarkation day. However, lido restaurant and bars will be open for business. jamscckmc Posted March 12, 2014 #9 Share Posted March 12, 2014 Food always available. Shops and casino are closed when ship is in port. I have brought a small scissor and was told knives and scissors less than 4inches were OK.
awhcruiser Posted March 12, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 12, 2014 Which ship? You may be able to eat somewhere else besides Lido on embarkation day.

Cruise-Crazy Posted March 12, 2014 #12 Share Posted March 12, 2014 No problem with the pocket knife, I have mine on all the cruises, never had an issue. It has a 3.5 inch blade.

True, rarely is it a good thing to have your ship parked in your yard, lol. Hubby is half right--- Dining rooms are closed while in port but the buffets and other eating areas are usually open. Room Service might or might not be available when you get onboard. (I've seen it both ways.)

grumpytilicruise Posted March 12, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 12, 2014 To me, it is a good to eat when you board, then put your luggage in your room (if it is ready) and then roam the ship. Look around and see where everything is so you aren't going crazy trying to find your way to a show or to dinner. I love getting there and on the ship as soon as we can then I know I am on vacation because once you get on, unhooked from dock, there is no turning back. lol I LOVE IT!! Freckles_51 Posted March 12, 2014 #16 Share Posted March 12, 2014 Just a tip: Carry a snack and water in your carryon just in case boarding is delayed. Someone may correct me, but I don't think there are any concessions in the port terminals. My first cruise from Miami, we were at the terminal by 11am but did not begin boarding until 4pm (when we were supposed to sail away!). We had been travelling since 5:30am, had a snack at the airport, but were absolutely starving by the time we got on board :(. I think the cruisers from the previous week's sailing had our lunch :p;)

This is a knife." :D Yeah, yeah. I know. You wouldn't be able to bring something like this on the ship. But the question reminded me of one of my favorite lines from "Crocodile Dundee 2". mzloolue Posted March 12, 2014 #18 Share Posted March 12, 2014 Elation Sent from my iPhone using Forums DH and I are booked for our Elation #6 soon. My advice is to get to the terminal at around 10:30. You should be on by 11:30 if nothing unusual is going on. Go to Lido and eat. Look around a bit and then scope out a good place for sail away. There are some eating areas at the rear of the lido that are good (get near the rail) or down a flight of steps to the serenity area. DH and I like to snag a couple of loungers on serenity and relax with a Long Island or some iced tea and read, sleep or just watch the cars going across the bridge.
