Can you still smoke in...........?

You're no longer allowed to smoke anywhere inside on Jewel, except the casino. I was on her in February. Had to smoke my cigars out on deck.

Elvis

Thanks for the update, I guess the change in smoking policy on Jan 1 killed the Jewel cigar lounge.

"Everyone has the right to make their own choices in terms of smoking or not"...that is true as long as it doesn't impact me personally (as in on a cruise), affect MY health (as in second hand smoke or having a disgusting smelling passenger that sits next to you at a show), or cost ME money due to the high cost of treating smoking related disease. I'm tired of paying for other peoples bad decisions. And who are we kidding...e cigs are just a way to keep people addicted to nicotine. Actualy number of smokers have declined due to warnings, TV spots (i.e.lady with the hole in her throat). E cigs are the answer to fill that sales vacuum. And those that think that e-cigs are harmless or are just fine...well you fall into the same intelect category as smokers of real cigs.

Not sure where you came to this conclusion, but plenty of people are using it to quit. I went from 24mgs of nic to 3 mgs to nic and will be jumping to 0 on my next refills and preparation of the final quit. People use it similar to the patch. It's more like government don't want people quitting since they are losing some of the tax money on tobacco. Apparently you haven't done any research at all, but hey you seem to know it all, so you keep on believing what you like, because I'll be done with cigs and ecigs permanently while you are on your rant about how bad they are.

You would think that someone who questions someone else's intellect would know how to spell the word "intellect". :D

As for costing you money due to the high cost of treating smoking related diseases.......I'm tired of the paying the high costs of treating fat people, so would everyone kindly not eat while on their cruise? Oh, and for treating the high cost of alcoholism, so don't drink as well. ;)

If you don't like the smells associated with smokers (or e-cig smokers) you are free to use your feet to walk in a different direction.

One aspect of the "second-class citizen" argument is often overlooked. When the person sitting beside you at a bar or casino does not smoke, when a person eating in a restaurant does not smoke, when the person next to you in the workplace does not smoke, there is no negative impact to anyone within the environment of the area. The reverse is never true. Smoking always immediately impacts the area exposed. It isn't and never has been a valid argument. Air free of smoke does not impose; smoky air does.

Exactly!

This was the case on the Enchantment in February. The Casino is so small that the smoke seemed to have no place to go. I am used to land casinos and smoking, but this was insane. Plus, since it became a social gathering place, folks were sitting at machines in groups, facing each other with their backs to the machines. It was obvious that there were not playing.

I wish RCCL would designate some sort of indoor smoking areas so those who want to smoke, can do so comfortably , and those who want to gamble can also do so.

As an optimist, I guess all the casino smoking actually saved us casino money, as we could not get to the machines we like.

m

And I lay this problem 100% at the feet of Royal Caribbean. Not for banning smoking elsewhere. Not for permitting smoking in the casino.

I blame RC because they COULD install better air filtering systems in the casino. They just haven't.

:(

Wow, what an inconvenient truth.

Having been a smoker and addicted to the drug nicotine I do understand the pull of the drug will make smokers defend there need to get a fix. But this seems a bit strange that you would only book a balcony for a place to smoke, have you never thought it is also a good place to get fresh air and look at the view? Looking at the cost, those cigs on the balcony were very expensive if you were booking a balcony just to smoke.

I was about to say the same thing! Imagine booking your holiday with your only thought being of where you can safely poison yourself as often as you can. Why bother going on a cruise? Why not just stay at home and puff away to your heart's content? In these days of political correctness, it isn't the done thing to actually speak against such things ...... but why not? We all know that smoking is bad for us. It is anti-social, makes our mouths, bodies, hair and clothes stink and there is absolutely nothing positive to say about it. So let's stop beating about the bush and admit that addicts will make all the excuses that they can to carry on their addiction. There is nothing to argue about..... It's an addiction that causes discomfort and annoyance to others and can kill, not just those who are addicted but many others around them. I also used to be a smoker and finally managed to quit the habit 10 years ago next month. I still count the years and months and give thanks that I was strong enough to kick the habit. I also used to say that I enjoyed a cigarette and that it was my right to smoke and all the other rubbish that other addicts say. It's not true you know.... you would all love to stop! And well done to those who have and good luck to all those who would like to. Here's to a healthier life.... without smoke!

I'm a musician who worked smoky bars and now suffer from lung problems. It is not the stench, but the chemicals which make some people truly sick. Times are changing, countries, states...the minority of smokers cannot freely foul the air. I have empathy for smokers and watched my father try to quit over and over. It is not a war on smokers, it's the reality check that tobacco smoke kills. When you cannot breathe, you have no freedom at all. Peace!

This is specifically why I don't book balconies. I can get that same view and fresh air up on deck for half the price.

Oh, and I can smoke on deck as well! :D

Maybe the smoker wants to buy pot from Jamaica and he/she can't do that from his/her living room? :D

Seriously, you think smokers go on cruises only to smoke on the balcony? Do you truly think that is the whole point of taking a cruise for a smoker??

BTW, as long as someone is 18 and above (in the US, different ages in other countries), they have a legal right to smoke in certain locations. It's not a rationalization and it's no more rubbish than someone's right to drink, eat, or act stupid (within the confines of the law or rules). Anyone witnessing someone doing what they are legally allowed to do (that they disagree with or just don't like) has the right to walk in a different direction if they want.

Such an emotive subject!!

We booked a balcony last year as my wife does enjoy an occasional puff

She was disappointed to hear this year she couldn't use the balcony and even rang RCCL to moan they offered her a refund or a downgrade to an inside cabin "as we no longer needed the balcony" couldn't be fairer IMHO

We stuck with the Balcony and she just had her occasional puff with the "great unwashed on deck 4 ;)

I have to say I would like to see the Casino declared non smoking it was on the IOS when we did the Med in 2012
