Can you still smoke in...........?

 Share

Recommended Posts

There have been a number of reports like that - the casino turning into essentially a smoking lounge with quite a few smokers not gambling, just smoking.

I'm willing to bet if that continues - smokers using it as a smoking lounge without gambling, and therefore non-smokers who WOULD gamble being driven away - that you'll soon see that policy changed. RCI won't be pleased with the loss of revenue in the casinos.[/q

You are so right if non smoker stop gambling be cause of the smoking in the casino. The smoking policy will changed back to smoking on the balcony's. :D :p

I'm willing to bet you'll NEVER see them backtrack & allow smoking on balconies again. Look at their sister line, Celebrity. No smoking on balconies AND no smoking in the casino. That's the direction things are moving, like it or not.

The smoke in the casino this week on the Freedom was pretty powerful. There were people smoking in there even when not gambling. We just went elsewhere. Non smoking gambler friends of ours were more affected.

Can anyone who has been on a recent Allure cruise report on the casino turning into a "smoking lounge?"

(Last three cruises were on Celebrity and sure wish Royal would follow suit regarding no smoking in the casino)

Thanks.

If a smoker pays the same fare as a non-smoker and is made to feel like a second-class citizen, then yes... it is.

I'm all for limiting smoking in indoor areas...fair compromise for all involved. But outdoors on balconies? If you're standing on your balcony, you're inhaling way more dangerous stuff from the smoke belching out of the stacks on the ship than you ever could from a cigarette.

The new rules strike me as kind of unfair.

This doesn't make any sense, in fact just the opposite. Finally non-smokers are not made to feel like second class citizens on their own balcony. Never made any sense to allow smokers to prevent others from enjoying their balcony.

Thank you RCL

If banning smoking was because of fires onboard why do they not allow

vaping their is no fire at the end of it. I used to smoke for 47 years no longer smoke cigarette's but sometimes use the e cig no smell, no fire but is now being banned. For RCC I believe it is the non smokers who are the majority and Royal is catering to that. I do think there should be a dedicated area for smokers as mentioned just not the casino.

It is indeed all about finding the policy that makes the most money. I assume that the Asian cruises have a different smoking policy because they make more money with that demographic.

At some point, perhaps they'll find that they can make more money with a non-smoking casino. However, from my completely unscientific observations, while I, a non-smoker, might lose thousands in the casino, I see a lot of smokers that lose tens or hundreds of thousands. Or maybe that's the chicken and the egg discussion... I just turn to alcohol when it gets really bad. :p

More research is needed on e-cigs , but from my experience, I would say there is a health hazard from exposure to them……….no matter what the degree……..

Thank God RCCL has updated their smoking policy, otherwise I wouldn't spend a penny with them. In light of irrefutable data for anyone to continue to smoke...well they must have a death wish. If you are a smoker instead of attacking this post or defending your right to smoke do something for yourself, your spouse, your kids, grandkids...STOP Smoking asap.

Is that a bad thing?

If you're a smoker, yes! I like to have a cigar every night. If they'd put a cigar lounge on every ship, and ban smoking everywhere else I believe that would solve a multitude of problems! I really don't want to bother anyone with my cigar, and conversely I don't want anyone bothering me!

Okay, time to have at me!

I don't smoke anything but especially on vaca DH loves a few cigars we are going in the allure for the first time and I understand there is no more cigar lounge! He is going to miss that. I understand everyone smokes in the casino. I wonder if he can have one there?? I'm not to thrilled cause I like to play the slots and am not crazy about the smoke. I realize it is everyone's vaca so I will just deal. Hope he can have one in there. If they can smoke cigs there I would think a cigar would be ok 2?? We will see

No, he cannot smoke a cigar in the casino. He can smoke his cigar up on Deck 17 in the evening. There is a bar outside there for cigar smoking.

I didn't think they separated cigars from cigarettes in their smoking rules - thought if you could smoke cigarettes somewhere you could smoke cigars there too? Would seem to be VERY hard to differentiate, since SOME cigars are not much different in size from cigarettes.

I think people who use perfume or aftershave should not be allowed on balconies or elevators! Many folks are allerigic, those floral fumes stay behind them in elevators and waft down the side of the ships from balconies. ENOUGH!!!! ENOUGH I say! The resulting sneezing is causing the spread of diseases - dare I say noro????

Its time to start promoting unscented perfumes and aftershave lotions. If anyone is offended, good!

Not Jewel! Not Brilliance! Not Allure! I'm talking about an indoor smoking lounge with a bar, like on the Freedom class and Voyager class ships! Can't believe with the Oasis class they built the biggest ships in the world and didn't put in an indoor cigar lounge!

I believe Jewel still uses the Hollywood Odyssey as the cigar bar in the evening. This will change when Jewel is revitalized in 2016 as they turn the HO into the Concierge Lounge.

There is always going to be issues w/ smoking vs non-smoking passengers. By their actions, RCL is attempting to serve both. I really don't understand their current policy to be honest. You either are going to eventually whiff cig smoke or you're not based based strictly on policy. I assume they are catering to both because of revenue. I smoke cigars. Believe me, RCL wants my money as bad as they want non-smoker monies. The policy of placing "smoking areas" at certain locations clearly spells this out. I too think the ruling on balcony smoking is a tad too much. It's outdoors. The wind blows. The smoke moves on. I am a respectful smoker. If my cigar bothers others, I generally move away. But when sitting on a balcony, I pleasure my cigar no different than non-smokers pleasure their time spent on a balcony. If the smell is a bit too much, they move away, go inside or whatever. Having said this, I still perplexed as to why the ships do not incorporate certain sections of cabins w/ balconies that are designated as "Smoking" balconies. These could and should be strategically placed and would appease many cruisers. If non-smokers knew where these cabins were, they would not book a room near this area. Likewise, smokers would. RCL has created 'indoor' smoking areas in the casino, all under one roof. It doesn't make sense. I haven't read this entire thread, so sorry if it's already been said.

Also it should be noted that on the Navigator this past March, the Sky Bar, you could smoke. In fact, the bartenders put out an ash tray. It didn't prevent the throngs of non-smokers from lining up 6 people deep around the bar to get their buzz on with drinks!

Likewise, smokers would. . .

two reasons this is a non-starter:

1. Every cruiser has his/her favorite location. Designating a smoking area would simply start a new argument by non-smokers about how they have now been shut out of the prime real estate or by smokers about how they have been relegated to the worst areas.

2. Smoke still travels -- you would still have complaints by non-smokers who are in any position to smell the smoke.
