Rare LHT28 Posted March 16, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 16, 2014 (edited) Yes you can stay before & after the cruise using Oceania air you pay a deviation fee to select the days & flights you want sometimes there may be an upcharge if Oceania has to pay more for the tickets If you use the search feature (top right) for DEVIATION you will come up with many discussions on the topic here is a recent discussion http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2004455 Food is subjective Entertainment is more low key that main stream lines The ships are usually smaller than most of the main stream lines, passengers seem to be well travelled & more mature Enjoy Lyn Edited March 16, 2014 by LHT28
orchestrapal Posted March 16, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 16, 2014 If your the right fit for Oceania is's not a date but a marriage. lt.'s the only line we have cruised since Renaissance their predecessor 11 years ago. We cruise them for their itineraries, service, suites, FOOD and fellow passengers. We do not cruise them for entertainment or loud music, noise or children of any age. We have cruised the Med with them 6 or 8 times and each time spent weeks before and after in the beginning and ending ports or nearby. Due to crowding and heat we never cruise in late June, July or August. We do not usually take the included air but if you do there is a $ 175 fee/ person for coming into the port city early or staying later. If your looking for a relaxing time on board with wonderful food O is for you.
edgee Posted March 16, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 16, 2014 I would add (compared to larger cruise lines you mention): Ability to enjoy peace and quiet, classy with service that is above and beyond. Downside for some is fewer entertainment options and organized activities. Also, on board pricing tends to be higher for shore excursions, alcohol and service charges (18% on drinks and spa services.)
Hawaiidan Posted March 16, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 16, 2014 Quality of experience is vastly different from a mega ship 3000+ passengers when you have only 1/3 of that. Pretty much all inclusive if you wish. Attracts a more interesting and well mannered low key/casual passenger. No children All casual no formal evenings. True luxury not faux without a nickel dime honkey tonk atmosphere. Country club rather than resort living. Entertainment is mostly provided by you and left to you....a cruise for people who enjoy entertaining them selves with conversation and experiences not hoop-a-la Vegas shows. For different air options it will cost both a deviation and a fare difference from the offered base flights. Can be as cheap at $175pp to $3000pp more.. depending on you wants
