Colorado Buffalo Posted March 17, 2014 #1 Share Posted March 17, 2014 I hate those. We upgraded to the Premium Drink Package so have no need plus I don't want any issues at all at the end of the cruise. It would also be nice to have an empty fridge to gather some sodas & beer and have on hand without having to leave our cabin.
We're The Groupnors Posted March 17, 2014 #2 Share Posted March 17, 2014 You can ask your room steward. In our experience some readily comply with the request, and others say no. We usually just empty the contents ourselves (on S Class ships into the upper bins above the bed), then just advise te room steward that we have done so. chelseauk Posted March 17, 2014 #3 Share Posted March 17, 2014 Last year on the eclipse it was no problem the steward emptied them into a holdall and put them under the bed :)
Happy2cruise Posted March 17, 2014 #4 Share Posted March 17, 2014 We have never had a problem when requesting the room steward empty the refrigerator. It is usually done the first day by the time we get back for the evening.
Rare cruisestitch Posted March 17, 2014 #5 Share Posted March 17, 2014 For those who might have children, teenagers or others who shouldn't be getting into the alcohol, you should know that most often when the mini-bar is emptied the contents stay in the stateroom -- stashed under the bed, in the top of a closet, or in the over-bed storage area most commonly. Rare mahdnc Posted March 17, 2014 #6 Share Posted March 17, 2014 Last year on the eclipse it was no problem the steward emptied them into a holdall and put them under the bed :) We had the same experience aboard Eclipse during our Dec cruise. Our cabin steward quickly emptied out the refrigerator on the 1st night and stored them in a bag under the bed.
wwcruisers Posted March 17, 2014 #7 Share Posted March 17, 2014 (edited) If you have your steward empty out the mini-bar, have him confirm that all the items are there, first. Also, have him count everything for you on the last night, when they restock the mini-bar. We had our mini-bar emptied out on the first day of our b2b, and STILL got a late (after we disembarked) charge for a missing mini-bar item on our credit card statement. We called and got the charge removed, but it was a pain in the you-know-what! Edited March 17, 2014 by wwcruisers

Is there a way to get it removed from the cabin? My wife is in recovery and could do without the temptation or opportunity.

Another option would be to just have the cabinet locked. Obviously can't use for other items if u do that, but items would be out of reach. CaribbeanBound Posted March 17, 2014 #10 Share Posted March 17, 2014 After we meet the steward, it's the first thing we ask to him to do when he has an opportunity.
WestLakeGirl Posted March 17, 2014 #11 Share Posted March 17, 2014 We were told that the steward isn't allowed to take the mini bar contents out of the room. There's no secure place for storage. But I would ask if the supervisor can't figure something out in your case, Newburyport Newbie

Just off the Silhouette and when we first went to our cabin, the refrigerator was locked. If it's not locked, definitely ask steward to do it. PartyAllDaTyme Posted March 18, 2014 #13 Share Posted March 18, 2014 On our last cruise, we asked the steward to clear out the mini-fridge so we could use it for our sodas and water, but it took him until the next day. Never saw where he put it. DW in the cabin across the hall had a different steward, who refused to do it. Concierge class versus inside cabin, maybe? The mini-fridge only keeps them cool, not cold. I'm thinking of bringing on a portable cooler and just having the steward replenish the ice. He can then lock the fridge.

I may be wrong but I don't think they have liquor in the mini-bars on Celebrity or Royal Caribbean. Tucker in Texas
dbcrac Posted March 18, 2014 #15 Share Posted March 18, 2014 We always ask to have the refrigerator emptied. The room stewart has to ask the bar to do it but it is always taken care of. Sent from my SCH-I605 using Forums mobile app
